Golf tip of the week: A shorter swing may be the answer

PHOTO PROVIDED The shoulder coil dictates how high the hand will go.
Most wrestlers and powerlifters lack the flexibility to take their hands high in the swing due to their bulky muscles. The same applies to anyone with limited shoulder movement due to physical conditions.
The hands and arms should stop when the left shoulder stops on the backswing and the right shoulder for the left-handed golfer.
Try relaxing the arms and hands, and stop the club when the shoulders stop turning.
Simply reaching high with the hands will not create more energy. The big muscles in the back produce the maximum energy to propel a golf ball.
A more compact swing will induce power and solid contact with the golf ball, and help you enjoy this great game called golf.
