Hughesville grad Stackhouse named Bucknell softball coach

The Bucknell softball program has turned to its alumni ranks for its next coach, as former standout catcher Angie Stackhouse has been tabbed to lead the program. Stackhouse returns to her alma mater after six years as coach at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, where she posted a 141-57 record and led the Wildcats to their first conference title.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Angie Stackhouse back to Bucknell as our next head softball coach,” said Tim Pavlechko, interim vice president for Athletics and Recreation. “Her success leading the Penn College program just up the road in Williamsport made her quickly stand out among an accomplished national candidate pool. The Bison softball team finished the 2025 season on a strong note, and we’re eager to support Angie as she builds on that momentum and strives to bring the program back to the top of the Patriot League.”
“I am incredibly honored to be the new head softball coach at my alma mater,” said Stackhouse, who becomes the ninth head coach in program history. “Bucknell holds a special place in my heart because it helped shape me into the person I am today. I’m excited to lead this program and help guide our student-athletes to be successful on the field and in the classroom. I’d like to thank Tim Pavlechko, Natasha Wilson, and the search committee for their time and effort, and their trust in me to lead the Bison softball program.”
During Stackhouse’s six-year stint (2020-2025) at Penn College, the softball team surpassed the 30-win mark twice, and she recorded a blistering .712 winning percentage. She broke new ground at the school, earning the program’s first NEAC Conference title and NCAA Division III regional playoff berth in 2021. The conference’s renaming to the United East Conference in 2022 did not impede the upward trajectory.
The Wildcats won regular-season championships in 2022 and 2023, an ECAC Division III Championship in 2023, and a United East championship in 2024. Additionally, they made two more NCAA Division III playoff berths in 2024 and 2025.
Individual players flourished under Stackhouse’s guidance, as 13 players notched 26 All-United East honors with 13 first-team selections, 12 second-team laurels, and one third-team citation. As the Penn College pitching coach, her greatest pupil was two-way star Mackenzie Weaver. The Williamsport native produced a 61-26 record with a microscopic 1.44 ERA, 29 shutouts and 560 strikeouts – all program records. The United East decorated the ace with two Pitcher of the Year awards and three First Team selections. Weaver also delivered at the plate, batting .332 with 39 doubles and 104 RBIs.
Stackhouse returns to Bucknell, where she shined from 2001-04. A standout catcher in a program known for producing backstop stars, she served as team captain during the 2004 season, earning All-Patriot League first-team honors while batting .402, and her 35 RBIs still rank seventh in single-season history. For her Bucknell career, Stackhouse hit .289 with 32 doubles, a total that until this year ranked in the top-10 in Bucknell history.
Following graduation, Stackhouse played professionally overseas in the Swedish National League as a member of the Alby Club. She excelled, becoming the League MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. She returned to Lewisburg and entered the coaching ranks as a graduate assistant with Bucknell Softball for the 2005-07 seasons.
Stackhouse landed an assistant coach position at Mansfield University in July 2007 and spent over a decade there before being hired for the head coach position at Penn College.
A Hughesville graduate, Stackhouse was inducted into the District 4 Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Hughesville High School Hall of Fame in 2015.
The new Bison mentor inherits a program that has made three straight Patriot League Tournament appearances, with wins in the previous two over Lehigh. Bucknell has won two Patriot League Softball Championships in its history: 1997 and 2010.
