Mauller named LHU assistant men’s wrestling coach
LOCK HAVEN — Brock Mauller, a four-time NCAA Division I All-American, has been named the new assistant coach for the Lock Haven men’s wrestling program.
Mauller joins the Lock Haven staff after spending the 2024-25 season as the assistant men’s wrestling coach at the University of Northern Colorado. At Northern Colorado, he helped lead a pair of Bears to All-American status, and his guidance was an integral part of Vince Zerban securing the honor at 157 pounds.
“Brock comes to Lock Haven with an extensive wrestling resume,” said Scott Moore, Lock Haven head coach. “He has been successful at every level and he left Missouri as one of the most decorated wrestlers of all time. His experience working with Brian Smith (Missouri) and Troy Nickerson (Northern Colorado) will allow him to make a smooth transition into his new role here at Lock Haven. He has had great mentors and been a part of some great programs. During his college career, Missouri set the standard in the Mid-American Conference before moving into the Big 12. I believe we are following in their footsteps after winning three of the last four MAC Championships. Brock’s determination, work ethic and humble attitude will add another level to the Bald Eagles’ experienced coaching staff. We are excited to welcome him to Lock Haven and as we continue to build The Rise.”
As a standout wrestler on the NCAA DI Missouri men’s wrestling team (2019-24), Mauller was a five-time NCAA qualifier and four-time All-American. He finished his career ranked fifth all-time in program history in win percentage (.868) and tied for 12th in total career wins (118).
Mauller graduated with a bachelor of science degree in parks, recreation and sport from Missouri in 2023, where he was a four-time All-American Scholar Athlete.
In the summer of 2021, Mauller became a sponsored Olympic & World Team Athlete (Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club), where he went on to represent the United States with the U23 wrestling team in Serbia.
“I am honored and excited for the opportunity to coach at Lock Haven,” said Mauller. “The program has accomplished great things, and I’m eager to build on its strong tradition. I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to pass on my knowledge and passion for the sport of wrestling at the highest level, and there’s no better place to do that than Lock Haven. I’m ready to push not only myself, but also the wrestlers to new heights, both on and off the mat.”
Prior to college, Mauller was a four-time Missouri high school state champion and three-time high school All-American.
“We are thrilled to welcome Brock to the Lock Haven wrestling program as our new assistant coach,” said Albert Jones, Lock Haven director of athletics. “Brock brings an exceptional level of experience, passion and competitive spirit that aligns perfectly with our program’s tradition of excellence. His collegiate accomplishments and deep knowledge of the sport will undoubtedly elevate our training environment and help develop our student-athletes, both on and off the mat. Brock’s commitment to high standards and his ability to connect with our student-athletes will play a vital role in sustaining and enhancing the continued success of Lock Haven wrestling. We are confident that his impact will be immediate and lasting.”
Mauller’s addition to the Lock Haven coaching staff replaces the spot held by associate head coach Ronnie Perry who recently resigned to pursue professional opportunities outside of collegiate coaching.
Perry was an important part of The Rise – in more ways than one. During his final season in 2018, Perry carved his name deep in the Lock Haven record books with a Cinderella-run to the NCAA Division I finals. Competing at 149 pounds, Perry capped his remarkable career by becoming the first No. 15 seed in NCAA tournament history to reach the finals.
Perry’s run to the finals and All-American status helped the senior close a brilliant career on the mats, before opening a new chapter as an assistant coach and the associate head coach with the program.
As a coach, Perry helped lead the Bald Eagles to three MAC Team Championships in four years, while helping Lock Haven become a mainstay on the national scene, which included several individual All-American finishes.
