SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT – Pitt County Girls Softball Little League (Winterville, N.C.) is headed back to Greenville, North Carolina, in hopes of defending its title at the 2025 Little League Softball World Series. The league will once again serve as the North Carolina (Host) Region after defeating Rowan County Little League 6-5 (8 inn.) in the 2025 North Carolina State Championship game.

Pitt County Girls Softball LL finished its championship run at the 2024 LLSWS with a 5-0 record, capping off an impressive Purple Bracket Championship victory before edging out the Southwest Region with a 1-0 victory in the World Series Championship to earn the championship banner. In its 2023 appearance as the Southeast Region representative, the team recorded a 4-2 finish, falling just short to the Mid-Atlantic Region in the championship game. With this year’s state championship title, the league has now served as the North Carolina (Host) Region in three of the last four years.

The advancement to the World Series through direct entry comes as part of the LLSWS expansion to 12 teams, now in its fourth year of participation involving international teams, sending the North Carolina state champion as the host team for the event.

While falling in the championship game, Mallard Creek LL (Charlotte, N.C.) will also have the opportunity to compete for a spot in Greenville as the North Carolina representative through the Southeast Region Tournament.

With the first-round matchups set, Pitt County Girls Softball LL will compete in the Orange Bracket and will play in its first game against the Latin America Region on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 1 p.m.

Starting at $2.99/week.
