Bucknell’s Lapworth earns spot on Coaches’ Goalkeeper Watch List

LEWISBURG – Bucknell senior Freddie Lapworth is one of only nine Division I netminders named to the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeepers to Watch list. The reigning Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year is coming off his best collegiate season in 2024, when he backstopped the Bison to a Patriot League championship.

Lapworth is joined on the list by Akron’s Mitch Budler, Kentucky’s Sebastian Conlon, Penn’s Phil Falcon, Robert Morris’ Josh Lane, Georgetown’s Tenzig Manske, Cal Poly’s Nicky McCune, Denver’s Isaac Nehme, and Furman’s Aaron Salinas.

The United Soccer Coaches preseason positional watch lists are compiled and released by the Division I All-America Committees. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and All-Region players from 2024 who are scheduled to return for the 2025 season.

Lapworth, a native of Banbury, England, was a First Team All-Region and First Team All-Patriot League honoree last season, in addition to the PL Goalkeeper of the Year award. He tallied a league-high eight clean sheets, which ranked ninth nationally and were the seventh-most in a season in team history. He ranked second in the Patriot League in both save percentage (.722) and goals-against average (1.04). Lapworth’s final shutout was a 3-0 blanking of Colgate in the Patriot League title match.

Off the field, Lapworth is a Dean’s List student in economics, and he will be serving as the president of Bucknell’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2025-26.

The Bison open the 2025 campaign on Aug. 21 at Hofstra, followed by the home opener three days later against St. Bonaventure at 6 p.m.

Starting at $2.99/week.
