Central Mountain’s golf team got off to a solid start for the 2025 season thanks to defeating Clearfield, 348-381, in the Wildcats’ season opener. The Wildcats won on a tough course with warm weather.

With 17 golfers on the roster and only two returning starters, it was a great effort for newer golfers. Senior Reese Walizer led the way as the match medalist with a score of 78, followed closely by Michael Lodek (82).

Nolan Karstetter shot a 95, Tucker Brungart shot a 105, Kai Fravel shot a 93 and Jon Conway shot a 112.

Exhibition scores saw Blake Walker shoot an 89, Landon Hill shoot a 97 and Drake Scanlan shoot a 104.

In an NTL meet featuring eight schools, Wellsboro took second wtih a team score of 355, behind only Towanda’s 323. North Penn-Mansfield was fourth (367), Cowanesque Valley was fifth (387) and Canton was seventh (418).

Wellsboro saw four of its six golfers break 100. Syler Pietrzyk shot an 82 while Sam Jackson shot an 84. Chase Shultz shot a 94 and Ben Jackson shot a 95.

Mansfield was led by Andy Hermansen’s 83 and Alex Kalamaris’ 86. Both Colin Oakes and Ray Nickerson shot 99s. Canton’s Carson Rockwell was the only Warrior to break 100 as he shot a 99. Reed Taylor shot a 103.

Cowanesque Valley was led by Danny Smith’s 88 and Ashton Burdock’s 94. Laila Hackett shot a 98.
