Williamsport dropped its season-opener in girls tennis to Central Columbia, 4-1. The Millionaires’ win came at No. 1 singles where Audrey Dincher earned a three-set win against Cassandra Martin. After winning 6-2, Martin battled for a 6-1 second-set win to force the third set. That’s where Dincher held off Martin for a 6-3 victory.

Two of the three singles matches went three sets

At No. 2 singles, Gabriella McQuillen fell to Sydney Barry 1-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-0. At No. 3 singles, the Millionaires’ Lillian Judge fell to Truc-Nhu Nguyen 6-1, 7-6 (7-2).

The Millionaires head to Selinsgrove on Tuesday.

North Penn-Liberty lost to Wellsboro in a close tennis match, 3-2.

Liberyt’s Annie Johns won at No. 1 singles over Olivia Gage in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 10-1. Liberty’s other win came at No. 3 singles where Evelyn Wetherbee beat Elyna Booth in three sets as well, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.

Wellsboro’s Logan Root and Serenity Mosher beat Elena Hazelton and Marissa Bradford at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, 6-0 and at No. 2 doubles, Piper Anderegg and Rowan Butters beat Caroline Cummings and Khloe Heichel, 6-2, 6-2.
