Torgerson, Diets compete at Port Royal Speedway
Saturday night at Port Royal, Ashton Torgerson and Chase Dietz fought for the lead throughout the event, with Dietz being able to come out on top for the $20,000 win, and his second win at the track in 2025a, it also was the biggest win for Dietz’s career in a 410 sprint car.
Ashton Torgerson would hold on for the runner up spot and Lance Dewease would charge from his eight starting position to finish in third.
Jeff Halligan would earn the Ramsey’s Car Wash Hard Charger honors for going from 17th to eighth and Michael Walter Jr. would win the $1,000 Warrior Award.
In super late model competition, Gregg Saterlee would take the lead with 8 laps to go and would go on to win the Penske Racing Shocks super late model A-main.
Port Royal Speedway will be back in action on Friday with the Late Model Dirt Series for a two-day program.
The Rumble by the River will feature the super late models, limited late models and UMP modifieds on Friday night. It will then be followed on Saturday with the Rumble by the River finale paying $50,000 to the winner in the super late model A-main event. The UMP modifieds will return to support the Saturday program.
A pair of new winners visited victory lane at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night when Kody Hartlaub walked off with the 410 sprint win and Cameron Merriman scored an exciting win in the Dirty Deeds 25 Finale for 358 sprints worth $3,000.
The 43rd annual Jack Gunn Memorial for 410 sprint cars is coming up this Friday night at 7:30 pm at Williams Grove Speedway.
Twin 20s for the winged and non-wing super sportsman are also part of the special program. The sportsman will compete in features only with timed hot laps used to set the starting lineups.
For the sprint cars, the race will be part of the 2025 Hoosier Diamond Series in which Troy Wagaman is the current point leader. The 410 sprints will be racing for an $8,000 top prize in the 30-lap Gunn Memorial, run annually to honor the late Hall of Fame promoter.
The $6,500-to-win Barry Skelly Memorial at Lincoln Speedway lived up to its billing on Saturday night, with a dramatic three-car battle to the checkered flag capping off an action-packed 30-lap feature. Brandon Rahmer held off J.J. Loss and Aaron Bollinger to secure the Barry Skelly Memorial victory for his first win at Lincoln since 2020.
Saturday night’s 358 sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway saw plenty of drama early before Ayden Hare stormed through the field and pulled away for a commanding victory.
HUMMINGBIRD SPEEDWAY
Bruce Hartzfeld Sr. was the lone new face in Victory Lane Saturday night as he took the checkers first in the pro stocks. Others were all repeat winners including Denny Fenton in the super late models, BJ Hudson in the semi lates, Bob McMillen in the economods, Tim Steis in the pure stocks and Brett Hanley in the four cylinders.
Next week will be season championship night, with double points on the line for several close battles in the season-long point races. The track will then take a week off for the Labor Day weekend and conclude the season with a late model special on Sept. 6.
