Warriors fifth in Landmark Conference coaches’ poll

The Lycoming College football team was selected fifth in the Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Susquehanna was the unanimous pick to repeat as champions after reaching the NCAA Division III Championship semifinals in 2024. Moravian (31), Wilkes (21) and Western Connecticut (21) rounded out the top four slots ahead of Lycoming (15), Catholic (14) and Juniata (6).

The 2025 season features new Landmark Conference member Western Connecticut, which joined the conference after its conference affiliation with the MASCAC ended after 12 seasons. Keystone College left the Landmark Conference at the same time. Lycoming’s trip to Dansbury, Conn., to face WestConn on Oct. 18, is the program’s first venture to the Nutmeg State since 1958.

Lycoming, which went 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the Landmark in 2024, finished third in the Landmark Conference in scoring offense (26.6) and fifth in scoring defense (30.8) in 2024.

The team returns two players that earned second-team All-Landmark Conference honors in 2024 — junior 1,000-yard rusher Terrence Oliver and senior offensive lineman Braedon Hart. Senior wide receiver Dawson Debebe, senior defensive back and Central Mountain graduate Ryan Pentz and junior tight end and Loyalsock graduate Brendan Clark were named on the 2023 All-Landmark Conference team.

Coach Mike Clark is tied for 29th among active Division III coaches with 89 career wins. He needs one more win to become the first coach to reach 90 wins while coaching in the Landmark Conference.

Lycoming opens the 205 season on Sept. 6, when it hosts TCNJ in a 1 p.m. non-conference game at David Person Field at Girardi Stadium.

Starting at $2.99/week.
