Freddie Rahmer claims win at Williams Grove Speedway
On Friday night, new father Freddie Rahmer finally claimed his first win of the season at the Grove, holding off Lance Dewease and Daryn Pittman for the $6,000 win in the Kevin Gobrecht Classic Challenge for 410 sprint cars.
Kody Hartlaub charged from the pole into the lead in the 25-lap 410 sprint feature ahead of Rahmer and hit the rear of the field on the seventh tour, and Rahmer was able to drive down the leader’s advantage by the halfway point. The sixth place starter Lance Dewease was challenging Rahmer for second as the pair was catching the leader.
Rahmer took his first jab at the lead on the 14th lap when he got by Hartlaub deep in the third turn only to see the East Berlin pilot turn his car off of the cushion and reclaim the spot at the line; and Dewease was all over the pair as the leaders zigzagged and darted through traffic.
With six laps to go it was still any of the trios race to claim and with five to go both Rahmer and Dewease had swallowed up Hartlaub to be first and second.
Rahmer was now in control as the pair raced into the first corner, Daryn Pittman threatened to take second away as Dewease worked on the leader all the way to the finish, coming up short by .250 seconds. Pittman was just .635 seconds behind the leader, finishing third. Troy Wagaman Jr. rode home fourth followed by Hartlaub who had faltering brakes.
Andy Best led the first 12 laps of the 20-lap 358 sprint main before 12th starter Dylan Norris of Hanover drove by for the lead and win. The victory was the eighth of the point leader’s career at Williams Grove Speedway.
Williams Grove Speedway will allow the 410 sprint cars one more chance to prepare themselves for the upcoming 63rd annual National Open when it hosts World of Outlaws tune up night coming up this Friday.
The tune up show for the sprint cars will pay $6,000 to win and will be the finale of the Hoosier Diamond Series for 2025, thus crowning the series champion. The event will also include the season finale for the 358 sprints with Dylan Norris in firm control of the point standings.
Then on Saturday, Oct. 4, the 2025 40-lap National Open will continue the tradition of posting the biggest winners share in the history of the oval at $75,000. Saturdays full purse is worth some $192,000 in total including a cool $2,500 just to start.
The National Open will see the 2025 Williams Grove Speedway 410 sprint car series champion crowned at the conclusion of Saturday’s main event.
Carson Macedo is the defending champion of the National Open.
On Saturday, BAPS Motor Speedway ran the Kevin Gobrecht Classic. Danny Dietrich showed his domination of the speedway when he ran down the pole sitter, Freddie Rahmer. Brock Zearfoss who started in fifth and charged his way up to second. Rahmer finished third followed by Cameron Smith and Troy Wagaman Jr.
Kenny Edkin ran pole to flag in the super sportsman feature.
Proior to the race feature the drivers had a helmet collection for the fallen officers of the York shooting where they collected over $6,615.
In other action at Path Valley Speedway, Alex McCullum started on the pole position in the East Coast Legends feature event, taking over the lead on lap 11, to collect the $1,800 special payoff.
In the 600 sprints, Jim Young took control of the oval as he dodged lapped traffic, gaining a quarter track lead for the second half of the 20-lap feature.
The PASS 305 Sprints Mike Melair had the best speed lap, running at an awesome 85.470 mph in 10.530 seconds. This was Mike’s first win at Path Valley Speedway.
The wingless super sportsman feature Stan Wanner locked in to his front place position as Walker, Mellott, Perigo and Jackson crossed the finish line for the top racers. Eric Walker had the best speed lap, running at 71.006 mph in 12.675 seconds.
The 270 sprints feature had Marshall Labuda taking a close win at the checkered. Labuda had the best speed lap traveling at 76.046 mph in 11.835 seconds.
The four cylinder thunder cars was won by Aaron Updegraff.
