Kegler’s Korner: Rhoads bowls first 800 of the season
The local Association saw its first 800 of the season last week, as Dave Rhoads pounded out an 809 in the Saturday Night Moonlighters League, to secure high series honors for the week.
Meanwhile the Diane Fox Memorial League saw a pair of 300 games, as Dave Zimmerman posted a perfect game for the first time in his career and was matched by Jacob Smith. Danielle Barlet’s 755 series in the Andy Tressler Memorial League, edged out Joselyn Klees’ 754 in the 10+6 Ladies League for best female series of the week.
But Klees’ 279 captured the women’s high game honors for the week. In case you were wondering, Joselyn has often been listed under her maiden name, Remphrey, in the recent past, apparently due to a glitch in the system.
Following are the highest available weekly scores for each sanctioned local league.

This week we remember 1988 local Hall of Fame inductee Georgee Wilt. Wilt starting bowling in the 1930s and in 1947 he accomplished his dream of building a bowling establishment in the Muncy area when he opened the Bowl Arena Lanes, later called the Cloverleaf Lanes since it was located at the intersection of routes I-180 and 405.
While managing the Bowl Arena Lanes from 1947-64, George was a two-term President of the Pennsylvania State Bowler’s Proprietors Association. He sponsored teams going to the ABC National Championship Tournament, and won the All Events Title in the 1952 local Association Tournament.
A great promoter of the game of bowling, in the mid 1960s, Wilt toured many county fairs with a pair of portable lanes, hoping to introduce people to bowling.
Hope to see you on the lanes.
