LHU football beats Glenville State 16-13 in 2025 season opener

LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven football team opened the 2025 season and a new era tonight with a hard-fought, 16-13, victory over visiting Glenville State (0-2) in front of an energized Hubert Jack Stadium crowd.

Running back Damir Green ran for two scores with both touchdowns coming by way of remarkable individual efforts. Green’s heroics helped fuel the win, a win that helped coach Joe Battaglia celebrate his collegiate head coaching debut in style.

With 4:18 left in the first quarter, Lock Haven (1-0) took a 6-0 lead behind a 44-yard TD run from Green.

Early in the second quarter, Caden Bauder’s 22-yard field goal stretched the Bald Eagles’ lead to 9-0.

Late in the first half, Lock Haven led 16-0 after Green scored again. This time, Green found the end zone after hurdling a defender and running over another from 13 yards out.

Lock Haven led 16-6 at halftime as Glenville State closed the half with a score.

The second half proved to be a back-and-forth battle with the Bald Eagle defense standing strong in the end.

Green finished with 76 yards on 10 carries and Ezequiel Johnson ran for 90 yards on 11 attempts as the Bald Eagle offense finished with 202 total yards on the ground.

Quarterback Jackson Ostrowsky threw for 190 yards (15 for 26). Durrell Ceasar (four catches for 63 yards, Johnson (three catches for 50 yards) and Jaiden Huntington (three catches for 44 yards) helped carry the way on offense.

Rasu Wearing-Poindexter led the way with a team-high seven tackles. Markel Morgan, Rhys McDonald, and Rocco Daugherty all finished with six tackles and the Bald Eagles forced one turnover. The turnover came early in the second half and proved to a be major difference in the outcome.

Lock Haven will travel to Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday, Sept. 13. The game will start at 4 p.m. and marks the first of two PSAC East-West crossover games on the road.
