Local roundup: Lape’s strong play in goal allows Shore boys soccer to battle Danville to draw
Despite trailing Danville 14-7 in shots on the night, Aiden Lape’s outstanding play in goal allowed the Jersey Shore boys soccer team to escape Tuesday’s contest with a 0-0 draw, keeping its loss total at two on the season. It’ll look to earn its second victory on Thursday at Lewisburg, with that game set for 4:30 p.m.
Quinn Winslow scored three straight second half goals, helping Montoursville defeat Mifflinburg, 5-2. Winslow also assisted Bryce Winslow on Montoursville’s first two goals, having a hand in all five scores. CJ Lucas added two assists and Quinn Winslow scored his goals in a 20-minute, 10-second span.
Gavin Freas scored a tie-breaking goal with 23:41 remaining as South Williamsport rallied from a one-goal deficit and defeated Sullivan County, 3-2. Freas assisted Tanner Packard on a tie-breaking goal and also scored the game’s first goal off an assist from Bobby Regan. Tucker Blasi scored twice a minute apart to put Sullivan ahead, 2-1.

CM boys soccer went on the road to Selinsgrove, and the two teams topping the Heartland-I standings settled things with a 3-3 tie. The Wildcats trailed throughout the game’s entirety but fought back on three separate occasions to tie it up.
Selinsgrove struck midway into the first half. Ten minutes later, Mycah Carson played a great ball into the box, and Cole Cooper calmly finished it to tie it at 1-1. The Seals then scored early in the second half to take the lead again, but again it wouldn’t last long. Tim Brinker placed a well-aimed corner kick right into Nolan Cross, who got it into the back of the net to tie it at two-apiece.
Selinsgrove managed for the third time to get a one-goal lead, one which almost stuck. However, a final push found Brinker at the top of the box, who unselfishly played Dylan Bechdel into space and finished it to the far post to tie it at 3-3 with just 6 seconds left.
In overtime, Central Mountain had a few chances to score but came up empty. Jaggar Pardoe had seven saves in the game. With the tie, the Wildcats are now 4-2-1 on the season. They are back on the road Thursday at Williamsport, with that game set for 6:15 p.m.
