Local roundup: Muncy’s Kiki Woodward, Ava Eyer both scores 4 goals each in rout against CMVT

Kiki Woodward and Ava Eyer each scored four goals as Muncy blanked CMVT, 15-0 and improved to 2-0. Ella Nagel scored twice and added two assists. Mikaila Ganoe also scored twice and had an assist. Alexis McKeta, Rosie Zalonis and Rachel Paulhamus as Muncy built a 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the game.

Rylan Isenberg fed a pass to Ella Moore, who finished for the game’s lone goal to give South Williamsport a 1-0 win over Mid-Penn rival Millville.

Althea Street recorded six saves in goal to preserve the shutout while Millville’s Ayla Boyunegmez had 13.

Brooke Wilcox scored four goals and Leila Garverick had a goal and assist as North Penn-Mansfield earned its first win of the year, 5-1, against Northeast Bradford in NTL action. Avalon Rew had seven saves for Mansfield to preserve the victory.

Warrior Run suffered its first loss of the season to Shikellamy, 3-1. Shikellamy went ahead in the first half, 2-0. The Defenders pressed hard and dominated the second half after a third Braves goal, but couldn’t quite rally back to score.

The Defenders’ goal came via penalty kick by Maura Woland.

Alexis McRoberts scored all five of Troy’s goals, including four in the second half, to give Troy a 5-2 victory over Wellsboro.

The Green Hornets’ Haylie Smith scored both goals while Ella Boyce had an assist.

“I was pleased with how we finished our chances, and I’m proud of the way our girls never gave up and cometed until the end,” Wellsboro coach Michael Reese said. “I take full responsibility for not preparing our team well enough to defend their playmaker (Alexis McRoberts), who scored all five of their goals. Games like this make us stronger and we’ll use it to keep improving as the season goes on.”

• Colton Beadle, Bryce Winslow and Quinn Winslow all scored goals, helping Montoursville boys’ soccer blank Danville, 3-0. CJ Lucas assisted on the first and third goals and Quinn Winslow assisted on Bryce’s goal. Montoursville goalie Mason Fry made four saves.

• Lewisburg’s doubles team of Nora Driver and Hailey Exley won a straight sets match in the team’s 4-1 loss against undefeated Danville.

• Central Mountain’s golf team defeated Selinsgrove, 170-715 at the Clinton County Country Club. Reese Walizer shot a 41 to take second place, while Kai Fravel was right behind at 42.

Wellsboro won a tri-meet with Athens and NP-Mansfield, winning with a team score of 160 to Athens’ and Mansfield’s 169 each.

Wellsboro was led by Syler Pietrzyk’s 39 and Mason Brill’s 39. Ben Jackson and Chase Schultz both shot 41s.

Mansfield was led by Andy Hermansen’s 37, Benton Zay’s 41 and Alex Kalamaris’ 45.

• Despite taking 10 shots, the Lycoming College field hockey team couldn’t find the back of the net, falling to Houghton University, 3-0. The Highlanders (3-0 overall) scored in the first, second and fourth quarters, with Campbell Bowers leading the offense with two assists.

Senior Isabella Bobe finished with five saves for the Warriors (1-1 overall). Annika Galen stopped six shots for Houghton.

Freshman Laurel Fite led Lycoming with five shots. Houghton took 12 shots in the game and held an 8-4 advantage in penalty corners. The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday against Keuka at home.

• Allowing just six shots in the game and two on goal, the Lycoming College men’s soccer team notched its first shutout of the season in a 0-0 draw with Misericordia University in non-conference action.

The Warriors (0-2-1 overall) outshot the Cougars (1-0-1 overall), 12-6, and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks, while the Cougars held a 12-10 advantage in fouls.

Lycoming had several close calls with the net, including a second minute shot by freshman Leandro Cruz on a breakaway that just went over the crossbar and the team made the Misericordia keeper make three saves in the last 20 minutes, with senior Christian Woobay taking two of the shots.

• Penn College women’s soccer played amount Aloysius to a 0-0 draw in non-conference action. The Wildcats record moved to 2-0-1 while dropping the Mounties to 0-1-2.

Taylor Brownback notched her third consecutive clean sheet to begin her career in goal, turning away two Mountie shots. Megan Kurian and Sara Darlington peppered the Mount Aloysius keeper with four shots on-goal each but nothing would hit nylon for either team in the 90-minute regulation.

The Wildcats combined for 17 shots (12 on frame) and lined up for seven corners. Mount Aloysius was limited in its attack to just three total shots and one corner.

• Three Lycoming first-year players – Kamryn Skeith (16), Emi Wenger (8) and Charlene Petreshock (6) – accounted for 30 of the team’s 39 kills in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-22) win over Penn State Mont Alto.

Skeith came up a dig shy of her third triple-double of the season, posting 16 kills, hitting .375, to go with 10 assists and nine digs. Wenger posted eight kills, two aces and 13 digs and Petreshock added six kills and six digs.

Junior Ima Mercado posted 16 digs and junior Haley Balgavy added 14 assists and three aces, as she helped Lycoming (3-1 overall) hit .160 in the match.
