Local roundup: Muncy’s Nagel records 50th career assist in Indians’ win

Muncy’s Ella Nagel dished out four assists on Monday to help the Griffins defeat Sullivan County, 7-0, and reach 50 assists for her career in the process.
Kiki Woodward scored five goals and Ava Eyer added two as Muncy cruised to a win. The Indians held a 2-0 lead at halftime but scored five second-half goals to put the game away.
Mikaila Ganoe, Alexis McKeta and Zoe Kunkle each added assists.
Kylie and Katelyn Temple both foudn the back of the net for Hughesville as the Spartans handed Milton its first loss of the year in girls soccer on Monday, 2-0.
Both goals for Hughesville came in the second half after a scoreless 40 minutes opened the game. The Spartans dominated possession en route to firing 23 shots on goal. Sienna Short played well between the pipes with 21 saves to keep the Black Panthers in the game.
Jasmine Caputo had four saves for Hughesville to record the shutout victory.
Warrior Run secured a 4-1 win against Bloomsburg. Bloomsburg led 1-0 with a goal in the first five minutes of the second half after having the ball for majority of the first half.
Scarlett Dunkleberger sent in a corner to tie up the game when Chloe Bastian scored before she then found Brooke Ryder for another score and gave the Defenders the 2-1 lead.
With 10 minutes left, Katie Zaktansky found Dunkleberger for a goal and Lacey Betz then scored off a Ryder assist for her first varsity goal.
• Jersey Shore scored three second-half goals to defeat Sullivan County in boys soccer, 4-3, in an exciting contest. Lucas King scored twice in the first half en route to a 3-1 lead. In the seocnd half, Jayden Passetti, Dylan Hensler and Gabe Welshans scored for the Bulldogs to take the lead and win.
Welshans scored a first-half goal and Ezra Paulhamus and Welshans had assists.
Sullivan County out-shot the Bulldogs, 19-11.
• Loyalsock secured a 3-2 win against Central Columbia in girls tennis on Monday thanks to sweeping the singles competition.
Caroline Crawford (No. 1 singles), Gia Biacchi (No. 2) and Vivian Reem (No. 3) all earned wins.
Crawford beat Cassandra Marte, 6-2, 6-3, Biacchi earned a 6-3, 6-1 win against Sydney Barry and Reem won against Zoe Seely, 6-0, 6-1.
Loyalsock’s Kinsley HIll and Annalise Berger won in three sets over Emily LaRouche and Alexis Kulp in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Montoursville lost to Milton in, 4-1, to drop to 3-7.
Montoursville’s lone win came at No. 1 singles where Elsa Kehrer earned a 6-4, 7-5 win over Emily Waltman. Milton’s Emma King won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles against Reagan Gonzalez and Carrie King beat Bella Aldinger, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.
Milton’s Makenna Wallace and Ava Beaver defeated Cadence Emick and Willow Turi of Montoursville, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
South Williamsport dropped to 3-5 this year after a 4-1 loss against Danville. The Mounties’ win came at No. 1 doubles where the team of Peyton Coolidge and Ava Foote earned a 7-6 (7), 6-0 win against Elyse Sparh and Sanah Bhanushali.
South Williamsport’s Mylee Morrison fell in three sets at No. 2 singles against GIavanna Sundaresan, 3-6, 6-2, 10-8. Emma McLaughlin of South lost to Josie Bendle, 6-1, 6-1, and at No. 3 singles, South’s Morgan Ertel lost to Alexa Preisz, 6-2, 6-1.
• Jersey Shore closed out their league schedule with a win against Shamokin to go 13-0 and capture their fourth consecutive PHAC championship. Sophomore Mason Heydrich was a medalist for the Bulldogs to help secure the win. Gracelyn Harsaanyi was second in the match at Indian Hills Golf Course.
Loyalsock earned a 170-206 win against Bloomsburg in boys golf competition while Loyalsock’s three girls competed, although no team score was recorded due to Bloomsburg not having a girls team.
On the boys side, Garrett Rankinen led the field wtih a 40 while Ronnie Emery and Drake Dupont both recorded 42s. Bryson Rankinen scored a 46 and Clark Bower and Connor Phillips each had 47s.
On the girls side, Mercedes Allison shot a 53, Londyn Kresock shot a 58 and Holly Raifsnider shot a 66.
• After posting a goal and two assists in the Lycoming College men’s soccer team’s first win of the season on Saturday, Sept. 13, senior Christian Woobay earned his first career Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week award.
Woobay scored the second goal of the game in the 21st minute after he assisted the first goal in the 12th. He capped the game with another assist in the 47th minute of the win over the 4-2 Mounties.
Woobay is a two-time All-Landmark Conference selection that earned Third Team United Soccer Coaches All-Region V honors as a junior. He has posted 17 goals and 13 assists in his career, leaving him three points away from becoming the 16th player in program history to post 50 points in a career and the first since Jordan Logan (2017) and Abdullahi Abdi (2017) reached the mark.
• Continuing the hot start to her season with four goals and an assist in a pair of Lycoming wins against 2024 conference runners-up, sophomore Ella Magee has earned her second career Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week award, the conference office announced on Monday.
Magee posted a goal directly off a corner kick and added an assist in a 4-1 win over PAC runner-up Westminster, then scored three goals in first half, one on penalty kick, one on a true Olimpico corner kick, and one on a free kick just outside the box, in 6-0 win over AMCC runner-up Pitt-Greensburg.
The junior leads the Landmark Conference with seven goals and seven assists and has already reached 20 points for a second straight year.
She also earned the Landmark Offensive Athlete of the Week award after posting three goals and an assist in the first two games of her career on Sept. 3, 2024.
