Port Royal racing season conclude with excitement
Last weekend was the season end for Port Royal Speedway and it went out with a bang with the High Limit Sprint cars making a stop for the Tuscarora 50. The Posse won one race, the HL won one as well and a young gun from Oklahoma made a big statement.
First, he was the second youngest driver to ever win the Knoxville Nationals and now, just a month later, he wins another biggie… the Tuscarora 50, the first driver since Kenny Weld in 1973 and Doug Wolfgang in 1985 to win the Knoxville Nationals and Tuscarora 50 in the same year.
Parker Price Miller and Logan Wagner would drive around Lucas Wolfe to put themselves into the second and third place positions over the next two laps before the first caution of the night. Brent Marks would slow with just three laps completed bringing out the caution flag due to a flat right rear tire, he would quickly fix the issue under caution and return to the tail of the field.
On the restart, Parker Price Miller would challenge Justin Peck for the lead around the racetrack before the caution lights would come back on just one lap later for a slowing Brenham Crouch. Crouch, who had struggles from the start of the program, would pound into the turn three wall following contact with Brad Sweet, doing heavy damage to the rear end of his car to bring out the second caution of the night.
Aaron Reutzel made his way into the fourth position before Anthony Macri brought out the caution flag from his 10th running position due to major engine issues and was done for the night. Once the field came back to green with 25 laps to go, Timms would power off the outside lane.
He would grab the lead and from that point on, it was all the 19-year-old driver from Oklahoma the rest of the way. Timms led by over 7 seconds when he took the checkered flag, winning the 58th Annual Tuscarora 50 in dominant fashion. Justin Peck would hold on to finish in the second position and Aaron Reutzel would finish in third.
This concludes the 2025 racing season at Port Royal Speedway.
Anthony Macri has the most wins at Port Royal Speedway in 2025 in 410 sprint car competition. He won one of the sport’s crown jewels at Eldora Speedway on July 19 in the King’s Royal. He hadn’t won at Port Royal Speedway since that big win, but on Thursday night, Macri would get back to Port Royal Speedway victory lane in dominating fashion against the drivers from Kubota High Limit Racing.
The PA Sprint Series looked to complete their 2025 season at Port Royal Speedway in exciting fashion with the points championship coming down to the final race.
Nick Sweigart and Logan Spahr came into the night separated by only 5 points for the top spot in the Port Royal Speedway points, and Sweigart would have the early advantage by starting on the pole of the 20 lap A-main race.
Sweigart would hold on to win the feature event, marking his third win at the track on the season, and also notching him the track title for 2025. Kenny Heffner would finish in the second position and Josh Spicer would finish in third.
A broken leg at Eldora just over a month ago for Aaron Reutzel took him out of the seat of the No. 87 for an extended period. He returned to the seat of the car on Thursday night and made the A-main event. On Friday night, he would park his ride in victory lane over a stout field of 52 sprint cars.
Racing season continues this week at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday Sept. 12, with $6,000 to win for the Billy Kimmel Memorial.
