Tevin Williams lifts Williamsport to exciting 29-23 win at Selinsgrove

With 8 minutes, 13 seconds remaining in Friday’s game, Selinsgrove held an 11-point lead and it appeared the Millionaires were heading for a road loss and a long drive back to Williamsport.

But the Millionaires’ players weren’t planning on losing.

Williamsport played great in the fourth quarter and secured a thrilling 29-23 road win thanks to scoring 20 fourth-quarter points.

After trailing 20-9, Williamsport’s Tevin Williams scored on a six-yard touchdown run and converted a two-point conversion pass to cut the deficit to 20-17. Williamsport would then score on a 12-yard run to give the Millionaires a 23-20 lead after an interception failed. The Millionaires helped seal the win when Williams returned an interception 35 yards.

Williams had 69 rushing yards in the final eight minutes of the game and put Williamsport on his back to earn the thrilling road win.

“Tevin, he’s a great spirit, but he’s also a warrior,” Williamsport coach Mike Pearson said after the game. “I just think he wanted to take the game over.”

Williams ended the game with three rushing touchdowns and 160 yards on 14 carries. He also threw for 119 yards.

Selinsgrove was led by Brett Rice, who ran for an outstanding 244 yards on 33 carries for two touchdowns. Rocco Amato threw for 110 yards and went 8 for 15, but had his costly late interception which helped Williamsport seal the win.
