Bald Eagles travel to Shippensburg

Last week saw Lock Haven beat West Chester at home, 28-21, securing Lock Haven’s first victory over the Golden Rams since 1991. And the Bald Eagles are hoping that huge win last week carries over into this week as Lock Haven travels to Shippensburg for another PSAC contest at 1 p.m. today.

Lock Haven’s defense played superb last week and Markel Morgan secured the win when he picked off Colin O’Sullivan with 37 seconds to play as West Chester tried to drive and rally.

Jackson Ostrowsky threw for 257 on 22 for 36 passing and Damir Green led Lock Haven’s ground game with 62 rushing yards and a score.

Green leads LHU this year with 241 rushing yards through six games and Ostrowsky has 1,197 passing yards in six games with five touchdowns.

Shippensburg has gone 1-2 in its last three games and started the year with a rough 0-3 start. No. 4 Kutztown beat Shippensburg, 49-0, before the Raiders won 41-28 against Millersville. That was followed last week with a 24-7 loss to East Stroudsburg.

Ethan Armeson is Shippensburg’s top rusher wtih 247 yards in seven games, averaging 4.1 per carry. The Raiders’ offense runs through the arm of Riley Gunnels, however. Gunnels has gone 159 for 257 for 1,543 passing yards with eight touchdowns.

Defensively, Lock Haven knows it has to limit Gunnels in order to secure a road win and last week’s win should give the Bald Eagles some confidence.

JahCure Maxam has a team-high 2 1/2 sacks this year and both Troy Miller and Morgan have two interceptions.

Starting at $2.99/week.
