LHU wants to shake off tough loss last week

After a heartbreaking three-point loss last week at home to East Stroudsburg, 24-21, Lock Haven is hoping to bounce back with a game against Bloomsburg today at 2 p.m. in PSAC play.
The Bald Eagles led 21-17 entering the fourth quarter against East Stroudsburg, but a touchdown run by Matt Frame with 1:47 remaining in the game helped seal it for East Stroudsburg as the defense didn’t let the Bald Eagles rally.
East Stroudsburg’s touchdown drive spanned 90 yards.
Lock Haven had success passing as Cole Transue went 13 for 17 for 122 yards and found the endzone twice, and Robert Footman Jr. went 7 of 13 for 90 and a score, but Lock Haven’s running game sputtered throughout the game.
Cureem Hathcock had just 40 rushing yards to lead Lock Haven, 28 of which came on one run. In addition, Damir Green ran it 11 times for 34 yards and Ezequiel Johnson had eight carries for 27 yards.
So far this year, Lock Haven’s ground game has struggled with just 108.5 yards per game, however the Bald Eagles have done well against the run, limiting opposing teams to just 102.3 yards per game.
Lock Haven has seen three quarterbacks throw so far this year as Transue has played in three games and has 133 passing yards and two touchdown scores.
Markel Morgan has led the defense this year with 33 tackles while Rocco Daughtertyhas 22. Both Rhys McDonald and Kuhron Walker have 17 apiece. Lock Haven has been led by JahCure Maxam, who has 2 1/2 sacks this season while Daughtery, Benjamin Casey and LucRichard Rameau have one each.
Lock Haven knows the Bald Eagles will pose a tough matchup. Lock Haven won last year’s matchup in a thriller, 35-32, and have won two in a row against the Huskies with a 21-13 win in 2023.
The last three Lock Haven/Bloomsburg matchups have been close with Bloomsburg winning in 2022, 17-9.
Bloomsburg enters today’s game 1-3 after a 10-7 loss last week to Shippensburg. Bloomsburg’s win came against Edinboro (34-18).
Bloomsburg’s defense did well against Shippensburg, limiting Riley Gunnels to just 169 passing yards and holding Josiah Leonard to less tha 100 rushing (97). The Huskies’ KJ Riley, a Danville graduate, threw for 177 and a score, but was picked off twice. He also led the team with 39 rushing yards.
