Lyco hopes to ride momentum of last week’s victory

After giving up 69 points to Susquehanna, Lycoming had a great rebound week on the road against Western Connecticut State with a 42-24 win to improve to 2-5.

The Warriors are hoping to ride that momentum on Saturday afternoon against Wilkes in a Landmark Conference contest at David Person Field at Girardi Stadium.

Terrence Oliver continued his outstanding season last week with another 100-yard rushing performance, this time going for 132 while Joe Lyons threw for 280 yards. Lycoming’s defense did enough to win despite a 314-yard passing effort from Dylan Jackson.

The 132 yards put Oliver over the 1,000 mark for the season as he sits at 1,016 through seven games played and averages 6.6 per carry with nine touchdowns.

Lyons has thrown for 1,043 yards this year as well.

Wilkes enters today’s game 4-2 and is riding a three-game win streak with victories against Montclair State UNiversity (24-21), Catholic University of America (15-14) and Moravian (26-7) following a 26-18 loss to Muhlenberg College more than a month ago.

Wilkes’ running game hasn’t gotten off to the best season as Ben Contella leads the team wtih just 281 yards through six games played. And passing wise, Cooper King has thrown for just 902 yards in six games. But Wilkes is doing enough to win and be above .500.

Wilkes has nine players with at least half a sack this year and are led by Cohen Creswell’s 5 1/2 sacks. He also has a team-high 13 1/2 tackles for loss with three quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and four break ups.

Starting at $2.99/week.
