Williamsport beats Wilkes-Barre Area on the road in Week 10 28-21

PLAINS TWP. — The Wllliamsport Millionaires rode the right arm and legs of quarterback Tevin Williams as they spoiled the homecoming festivities at Wilkes-Barre Area, beating the Wolfpack, 28-21, on Friday evening at Wolfpack Stadium.

Williams threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 76 yards and a touchdown

Wilkes-Barre Area muffed the opening kickoff of the game. Pinned deep in their own territory were forced to punt the ball away only to have the punt partially blocked by the Millionaires. Williamsport needed 3 plays to cover 19 yards Tevin Williams hit a wide open Kason Ulmer in the corner of the end zone from 13 yards out for the score.

Undaunted, the Wolfpack mounted a 10-play, 66-yard scoring drive of their own. Instrumental in the drive was Nick Saracino hauling a 32-yard pass Jake Howe and a 13-yard run by Devon Underwood. The drive was culminated by Kevon Creech’s 3-yard scoring run on a reverse to tie the game at 7 apiece.

Williamsport then responded with a five-play 65-yard drive. Williams rushed three times for 30 yards and Williams hit a streaking Kason Ulmer with a 51-yard scoring strike down the middle of the field

Wilkes-Barre Area answered the Millionaire scoring drive with a seven-play, 70-yard scoring drive of their own. Howe hit Creech with a pass to the sideline and Creech did the rest as he outran the Millionaire defenders from 25 yards our to knot the score at 14-14.

Both teams’ defenses settled in as they forced each other to punt the ball away on ensuing possessions. Williams hit Giovanni White with a 45-yard scoring pass to give the Millionaires a seven-point halftime lead,

The third quarter started the same way as the defenses forced a series of punts by each club. Wilkes-Barre Area then managed to get its offense in high gear as they marched 73 yards in five plays Jake Howe 39 yard pass to Treyvon Genbirski set the Wolfpack up deep in Williamsport territory.

On Wilkes-Barre Area’s next play Devon Underwood scooted 21 yards with the game-tying touchdown.

After forcing the Wolfpack to punt the ball away Wlliamsport embarked on a five-play, 46-yard drive in which Wlliams found Trey Danshroeder for a 35-yard strike to give the Millionaires the play inside the Wolfpack 10.

Faced with a fourth-and-goal from the 1, Williams called his own number to give the Millionaires the lead.

With the Wolfpack driving the Williamsport defense was opportunistic as they strpped the ball away from Gembitsky and recovered the ball in the end zone late in the fourth quarter of play. The Millionaires were then able to run the clock out.

Wilkes-Barre Area’s Jake Howe finished with a game high 30 passing yards.
