Fisher, McCracken lead Lycoming women at Penn State Altoona

ALTOONA — Senior Allison Fisher and sophomore Jocelyn McCracken, a Jersey Shore graduate, led the Lycoming College women’s basketball team, finishing in double figures, as the team fell to Penn State-Altoona, 69-49, at Adler Arena on Tuesday.

Fisher posted 14 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in her first career double-double, also hitting a career-best four 3-pointers in the game. McCracken notched 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and three blocks for the Warriors (2-3), junior Alyssa Reisinger added nine points and junior Ann-Marie McMurtrie finished with six points, six rebounds and a career-high six assists, also adding two steals.

The Warriors had 16 offensive rebounds in the contest despite shooting 29% from the floor, which led to 11 second-chance points and 22 points in the paint. The Lions (4-2) had five more field goals, four more 3-pointers and six more free throws made to make up the difference in the game.

The teams battled through three ties and three lead changes in the first quarter and a field goal from sophomore Summer Emlet gave the Warriors a 14-12 lead to start the second before Altoona went on an 11-2 run. Fisher cut the deficit to a point with 57 seconds left in the first half after hitting a 3-pointer, but Altoona scored the last five points of the half to lead 33-27 at the break.

A 10-point run midway late in the third quarter helped Altoona lead by 15 and Lycoming was unable to close back within single digits in the final 10 minutes.

Jaidyn McCracken led the Lions with 17 points and nine rebounds, Avana Sayles posted 16 points and 10 rebounds, Madison Rusnica added 13 points and Halle Kuzminski posted 11 rebounds.

The Warriors are back on the court on Monday when they host Penn State Berks at 6 p.m. in Lamade Gym.
