Lycoming heads to Catholic eyeing third straight win
Lycoming’s football team is hoping to win its third straight game as the Warriors head to Washington D.C. to face Catholic today at noon.
Lycoming has beaten Western Connecticut State (42-24) and Wilkes (31-21) in back-to-back weeks to move to 3-5 this year.
Last week against Wilkes, Joe Lyons threw for 327 passing yards to help spark the Warriors’ offense and Terrence Oliver ran for 95 yards. Defensively, Daniel Atsou played well with nine total tackles while Matt Rolinger recorded seven.
Jeremiah Boyer, Trinity Hill-Caleb, Christon Mitchell-Brown and Mike Sipps all recorded sacks as Lycoming ended the day with four sacks, nine tackles for loss, an interception by Cam Tolbert, four pass breakups and a forced fumble by Tolbert.
Catholic is also 3-5 and is coming off a lopsided 69-13 loss to ranked Susquehanna. That loss snapped a two-game streak of wins by Catholic over Juniata (20-17) and Moravian (26-20, overtime).
Catholic has been led by Daequan Harvin who has rushed for 438 yrds and averaging 5.0 carries per attempt. The Cardinals’ passing game has struggled as Charles Gulbin leads the team with just 869 passing yards through six games with eight touchdowns and six interceptions.
