Lycoming wrestling downs No. 22 McDaniel, 24-21
WESTMINSTER, Md. – A run of four straight bonus-point wins from 157 to 184 pounds helped lift the 17th-ranked Lycoming College wrestling team to a 24-21 win over No. 22 McDaniel College on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23, at the Gill Center.
Senior Kobin Karper started the run with a 12-0 major decision over Andre Allen, cutting McDaniel’s lead to 14-8. Junior 165-pounder Kaiden Wagner – a Lewisburg graduate, ranked ninth in the country, followed with a one-minute tech fall, 15-0, over Christopher Mendoza before junior 174-pounder Nolen Zeigler, ranked second in the country, pinned John Gregory in 2:08 to give Lycoming (3-1) a 19-13 lead. Senior 184-pounder Eli Crum capped the run with a 15-0 tech fall in 107 seconds against Soren Wynn.
First-year Luke Magnani provided the other win, posting a 15-6 major decision over Stone Yuen at 133 pounds.
The Green Terror (1-1) also had five wins, but the Warriors limited them to three bonus-point wins to ensure the win.
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 6, when they head to the RIT Invitational for a 9:30 a.m. start.
