BRADFORD — Penn College gave up just 14 second half points in a 77-34 rout at Pitt-Bradford on Saturday in non-conference women’s basketball action. The Wildcats are off to their best start in the NCAA-era at 4-0. The Panthers dropped to 0-4.

A 29-21 halftime lead for Penn College quickly ballooned in the third quarter when the Wildcats went on a 23-1 run that ate up half of the period. Lexi Troup led the squad with seven points while Mia Patterson scored four and Breana Valentine’s bucket with six minutes on the clock pushed the score to 42-22.

The Wildcats’ defense did not let up in the final 10 minutes, holding Bradford to just eight points.

Troup paced the offense with 23 points on 7-19 shooting and a perfect 9 for 9 at the free throw line. Kayla Herzer poured in a career-best 15 points and Valentine posted a 15-point, 16-rebound double-double. Patterson also finished with 12 points to give the Wildcats four double-digit scorers in the victory.

Penn College shot 41% (31-76) and forced 23 turnovers while winning the rebounding battle 59-36. The Wildcat defense limited the Panthers to 21% shooting (12-58).

Penn College returns to Bardo Gym for a pair of non-conference matchups this week against Penn State Altoona on Monday (6 p.m.) and Elmira on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
