Junior Connor Shanahan finished with 25 points, six assists and two steals to lead the Lycoming College men’s basketball team, which used a hot-shooting first half to get past Keuka College, 71-59, in non-conference action at Lamade Gym on Wednesday night.

Shanahan hit 8-of-17 from the floor and 4-of-7 from 3-point range to pace the team. Junior Hayden Pardoe – a Central Mountain graduate – had nine points and five rebounds and first-year Noa’Sosa Friedman added nine points.

Both seniors J.J. Beagle – a Williamsport graduate – and Isaiah Valentine added five points, with Beagle adding two blocks and Valentine five rebounds. Sophomore Princeton Layton had seven points, five rebounds and three assists.

Keuka held two leads early in the game before a layup from Friedman tied the game at 14 with 11:35 left in the first half, which started a 16-2 run capped by another Friedman layup with 5:13 left.

The Warriors continued to roll, pushing on another 15-6 run to end the half and that lead grew to 51-28 in the first 3:16 of the second half before the Wolves went on a 18-1 run that finally ended with a layup from Beagle with 9:13 left. A layup from Shanahan with 5:30 left got the lead back to double figures, 61-50, and it stayed there for the final minutes.

Makya Morrison posted nine points and 13 rebounds and Lamar Lovelace notched 11 points to pace the Wolves, who shot 35 percent (23-of-65) in the game.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday when they head to Dickinson College for a 4 p.m. game.
