Fisher, Abdo finish in double figures for Lyco women at Goucher

BALTIMORE, Md.–Senior Allison Fisher scored 15 points and fellow senior Kami Abdo added 10 points as the Lycoming College women’s basketball team fell 60-48 in a Landmark Conference matchup against Goucher College on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the Decker Sports & Recreation Center.

Lycoming (3-4, 1-2) took a 14-10 lead after the opening quarter, with Abdo and sophomore Jocelyn McCracken – a Jersey Shore graduate – each scoring five points in the period. Goucher (4-3, 1-2) answered with a 19-11 second quarter to take a 29-25 lead into halftime.

The Warriors made a valiant push in a tight third quarter, closing to within a point on an and-one layup from Abdo that made it 39-38 with 36 seconds left in the period. However, Goucher hit a late three to push the lead back to four points entering the final quarter.

Lycoming closed within five on a pair of Abdo free throws with 2:08 left, but the Gophers scored the final seven points to put the game away.

Fisher scored in double figures for the fifth time this year with her 15 points, including a trio of three-pointers, and six rebounds. Abdo snagged six steals in addition to her 10 points, while McCracken pulled down a team-high nine rebounds in addition to her five points and a pair of steals.

Goucher had four double-digit scorers, led by Nia George and Aniya McDaniel with 13 points apiece. George also pulled down nine rebounds. Logan Davis chipped in 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

The Warriors will be back on the road on Saturday for a Landmark Conference contest against Drew University. Tipoff from Madison, N.J. Is scheduled for 4 p.m., after the men’s game at 2 p.m.
