Local roundup: Loyalsock’s Dadzie produces double-double in loss

Alaina Dadzie produced her second straight double-double and Loyalsock held undefeated 2025 Class 5A semifinalist Crestwood to its lowest point total in a 50-30 loss on the road. Dadzie totaled 20 points and 15 rebounds, while Jaekairah Harden had five points, five assists, three steals and six rebounds.

Loyalsock became the first team to hold Crestwood (7-0) to fewer than 62 points.

St. John Neumann had one of its best defensive games this season but struggled offensively in a 31-14 loss at Northumberland Christian. Kaydence Meixel scored five points for the Knights and Bre Nixon four.

Maddie Smith had a monster night for Hughesville, scoring a career-high 35 points as the Spartans beat Wyalusing on the road, 77-49. Hughesville held just a one-point lead after the first quarter (17-16), but held Wyalusing to eight in the second quarter and scored 46 in the second half.

In addition to Smith’s 35 points, Kendall Hamm scored 11 and Kylie Temple, Allyssa King and Anna Easton all scored eight apiece to propel the Spartans.

South Williamsport scored double digits in three of the game’s four quarters to secure a 53-46 win against North Penn-Mansfield.

The Mounties led 16-8 after the first quarter and took a 28-17 lead into the break. Mansfield kept battling, however, and scored 17 in the third to tie the game at 34-all heading to the fourth.

Kameron Lightner scored 22 points and Maddie McNamara scored 13 for Mansfield. Lightner had a double-double with 14 rebounds, six steals and four blocks while McNamara had nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. South Williamsport was led by Carly Quimby’s 15 points, Maddie Reidy’s 10 and Ella Moore’s nine.

• Cowanesque Valley defeated Austin, New York, 64-25. The Indians limited Austin to seven points in the second quarter and shut Austin out in the third.

Josh Teague and Levi Stahli both led Cowanesque Valley with 11 points apiece while Ashtyn Burdick and Parker Lee scored nine.

• Four Wildcats were featured in the December 12 release of the National Wrestling Coaches Association Region 2 rankings.

Junior 149-pounder TJ Martin, sophomore 165-pounder Carter Davis and junior 285-pounder Nicholai Brotzman remained in the rankings for the third consecutive release while junior 197-pounder Nicholas Woodruff rejoined the group for the first time since the preseason release on Oct. 28.

Martin and Davis lead the Wildcats with 15 wins each this season as the duo are both ranked second in their respective region weightclass. Brotzman moved up one spot to fourth in the region with a 4-5 record in a limited first semester outing. Woodruff is currently 4-2 with two pins and a tech fall to be slotted fifth in the region.
