Williamsport boys, girls swim teams claim titles at invitational

Multiple area schools competed in the 2025 Blue Jay First Chance Invitational at Bloomsburg on Saturday morning and Williamsport took home titles for both boys and girls competition.

The Millionaires’ boys swimming team won the team title with 349 points, beating Danville (330) and Athens (274) while the Williamsport girls won with 332 points, edging out Danville (324) and Lewisburg (266).

On the boys side, Williamsport’s Cooper Allmaras brought two individual wins home as he won the 200 free and the 100 back. In the 200 free, Allmaras swam a time of 1:56.57 while Muncy senior Logan Diehl swam a 1:59.21 to take second place. In the 100 back he swam a 59.13, the only swimmer to break a minute, to claim a win.

Allmaras also helped Williamsport’s 200 medley relay team take first place with Evan Summers, Brian Love-Ritchey and Brady Ross in 1:42.58. The Millionaires won the 200 free relay with the team of Summers, Max Fink, Allmaras and Ross in 1:34.94, winning by two seconds over Danville.

Ross took a win home for Williamsport in 22.55, beating out Milton’s Nolan Scheller, who took second in 22.67. Ross was also a second-place finisher in the 500 free with a time of 5:06.65.

Lewisburg’s Colin Shannon was a second-place finisher in the 200 IM in 2:12.05 and Williamsport’s Evan Weaver was fifth in 2:25.70. Shannon took third in the 500 free in 5:14.74.

In the 100 free, Muncy’s Diehl took second by swimming a 53.06 as Evan Summers of Williamsport took third in 53.18. Athens’ Eli Hicks won in 50.70.

The area was successful on the girls side as well on Saturday.

Lewisburg went 1-2 in the 200 free as Morgan Shannon won in 2:05.12 and teammate Emma Hopkinson took second in 2:07.80. Williamsport’s Dylana Richards took fifth in 2:17.57. Shannon claimed a first-place finish in the 500 free in 5:36.94, winning by 21 seconds.

Central Mountain standout Gabriella Hosley swam a time fo 2:21.45 to take first in the 200 IM by a second over Bloomsburg’s Lucy Diehl. Lewisburg’s Claire Graver was third in 2:26.81 while Williamsport’s Kiley Persun took fourth in 2:32.07 and Jillian Muchler of Lewisburg was fifth (2:37.46). Hosley also won the 100 breast in 1:13.08, winning by just over a second over Bloomsburg’s Anna Yancoskie.

Muchler claimed an individual win for Lewisburg in the 100 back wtih a time of 1:07.14, winning by just 0.23 seconds over Halifax’s Hannah Reber.

Aviya Halstead of Williamsport won the 50 free in 26.67, just edging out Danville’s Cleo Hummel (26.73) and Milton’s Larissa Rovenolt (27.03), who took second and third, respectively.

Hopkinson was also a first-place finisher in the 100 fly in 1:03.56 and Milton’s Rachel Geocey took second in 1:08.37. Williamsport’s Kyla Becker took third in 1:13.50.

In the girls 100 free, the top three finishers all swam a sub-minute time as Williamsport’s Kiley Persun took second in 58.57, just 0.01 seconds behind Danville’s Zoe Czech in an extremely close race down to the finish.

In the 400 free relay, Lewisburg’s Shannon, Muchler, Claire Graver and Hopkinson swam a 3:54.93 to win the event by four seconds over Bloomsburg’s foursome.

Hughesville’s Sophie Yoder competed in the invitational and was Hughesville’s only swimmer to compete. She had an 11th-place finish in the 200 IM in 3:34.42.
