Williamsport swimming has success vs. Bloomsburg, Jersey Shore
Williamsport’s Brady Ross swam an outstanding 49.34 to win the boys 100 free by more than six seconds over Bloomsburg’s Oliver Petter. It was one of two wins for the Millionaire standout as teammate Evan Summers also picked up two victories, as Williamsport swept a tri-meet with Bloomsburg and Jersey Shore in boys and girls swimming on Tuesday evening.
On the boys side, Williamsport beat Bloomsburg, 97-56, and Jersey Shore, 125-10. On the girls side, Williamsport beat Bloomsburg, 104-67, and Jersey Shore, 121-50.
Ross would pick up an individual win in the 50 free as well thanks to a time of 22.38, winning the event by nearly three seconds over teammate Nathaniel DePrenda (25.05), who took second.
Williamsport’s Evan Summers swam a time of 1:54.12 to pick up a win in the 200 free, edging out teammate Cooper Allmaras, who took second in 1:59.20. Summers would earn a win in the 100 breast as well by swimming a sub-minute time of 56.63.
Both Summers and Allmaras were part of Williamsport’s 200 medley relay team with Brian Love-Ritchey and Ross, who won in 1:42.93. Allmaras took second in the boys 100 back with a time of 58.74, just behind Bloomsburg’s Grayson Reck (57.00).
Williamsport’s Evan Weaver swam a time of 2:24.24 to take second in the boys 200 IM. Williamsport’s Cy Haight was a second-place finisher in the 500 free with a time of 6:25.36. Bloomsburg’s Hunter O’Neal won the event in 5:59.72 and Williamsport’s Ryan Saxe took third in 6:41.30. Weaver also was a second-place finisher in the time of 100 breast with a time of 1:10.31.
The Millionaires earned a win in the boys 400 free relay with the team of Alex Martyniuk, Ryan Saxe, Peter Michaluk and Cy Haight swimming a 4:24.56.
Love-Ritchey was a second-place finisher in the 100 fly with a time of 1:05.59 while Bloomsburg’s Chase Moore won in 55.84. Williamsport’s Aiden Li took third (1:12.64). Max Fink took third in the 100 free for Williamsport in 56.69.
In girls competition, Kyla Becker of Williamsport took first in the 100 fly with a time of 1:12.83, winning by nearly four seconds over Bloomsburg’s Samantha Fagan (1:16.75).
Williamsport’s Aviya Halstead swam a 26.40 in the 50 free and took second as Bloomsburg’s Lucy Diehl won in 25.16. Halstead would claim a first-place finish later in the day, however, as she won the 100 back as the Millionaires took the top 3 spots in the event. Halstead won in 1:10.92, Addison Hill took second in 1;14.19 and Dylana Richards took third in 1:16.90.
Williamsport’s Kiley Persun was a first-place finisher in the 500 free as she swam a time of 5:46.98, cruising to a win by 24 seconds. Teammate Olivia Godfrey took third in 6:35.65.
The Millionaires’ Richards, Olivia Godfrey, Elli Halstead and Miley Johnson swam a time of 4:23.44 to win the girls 400 free relay.
In the 1-meter diving competition, Williamsport’s Lindsay Clover won with a score of 188.60 while Allie Eberhart took second in 170.35 as the Millionaire duo were the lone two competitors.
Jersey Shore had a pair of top-3 finishers in the girls 100 free competition. The Bulldogs’ Emily Shemory was a second-place finisher in 1:01.24 while teammate Lila Nestlerode took third in 1:02.99. They trailed only Bloomsburg’s Jordyn Maloney who took first in 1:00.33. Shore’s Sierra Derr took fifth in the race in 1:04.42.
Jersey Shore’s Macy Wilton took third in the girls 200 IM with a time of 2:46.21, behind only Bloomsburg’s Jordyn Maloney (2:38.64) and Williamsport’s Annie Ross (2:45.08). Jersey Shore’s Emily Shemory took third in the 50 free in 26.90. Wilton also was a fourth-place finisher in the 100 back with a time of 1:16.98.
Addison Miller of Jersey Shore finished fifth in the 100 back in 1:26.07 and Shore’s Cambria Clarke took sixth in 1:32.32.
Jersey Shore’s Brooke Charney finished third in the girls 100 breast with a time of 1:18.98 and trailed only Bloomsburg’s Lucy Diehl (1:15.10) and Williamsport’s Annie Ross (1:18.35), who finished first and second, respectively.
Jersey Shore’s Makayla Wrench, Addison Miller, Rhian Prowell and Sierra Derr swam a time of 4:44.51 to finish third in the girls 400 free relay event. Prowell was a fourth-place finisher in the 500 free (7:04.32) and took sixth in the 100 breast in 1:27.95. Shore’s Derr took seventh in the 100 breast with a time of 1:20.16.
The Bulldogs’ Jayden Passetti took fifth in the 100 free in 1:01.65 and took fifth in the 50 free with a time of 27.18. Nathan Grant of Jersey Shore finished the boys 100 back with a time of 1:15.84 and was sixth in the 50 free in 28.22. Nathan Klugh of Jersey Shore took sixth in the 200 free with a time of 2:40.29.
Independently, Muncy’s Logan Diehl competed in the tri-meet. Diehl, a senior and Muncy’s lone swimmer, finished the 200 free in 1:58.56, which would have been good enough for second. Diehl also swam in the 100 free and finished in 53.40 Independent swimmer’s times don’t count toward top-3 finishes in duals, tri-meets or invitationals, but do count toward qualifying for districts and seeding times.
