Local roundup: Williamsport thumps Selinsgrove at Magic Dome 65-42

Williamsport complemented strong defense with balanced offense as it thumped Selinsgrove, 65-42 at the Magic Dome. Kason Ulmer scored a game-high 15 points and Quincy Williams and freshman Mekhi Gaston each reached career-highs with 14.

Naazir Lowe added nine for the Millionaires who outscored Selinsgrove, 43-23 in the second half. They also started strong, taking a 12-4 first quarter lead. Gaston also played well in the JV game, scoring 17 points in a 66-43 win.

Gavin Knarr scored 23 points and added five rebounds, helping Hughesville win a hard-fought 58-54 contest against St. John Neumann. Alex Schultz nearly produced a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Evan Mackenzie added nine rebounds and three assists. Jahki Brister scored a career-high 20 points for Neumann which cut a nine-point deficit to four in the fourth. Legend Dillard scored 15 and Daiton Thompson 10.

Five Montoursville players scored at least nine points as the Warriors defeated two-time defending District 4 Class AAAA champion Danville, 68-36. Shea Ulmer scored 13 points, Cam Cintron 12 and Kingston Fisher, Isaac Erlandson and Elijah Eck all had nine. Montoursville used a 24-9 second quarter run to build a 44-21 halftime lead. The Warriors (9-2, 1-0 HAC-II) won for the ninth time in 10 games.

Jersey Shore defeated Northumberland Christian, 45-20, at home. Landon Lathan scored 11 points while Mazden Lupton added nine points, nine rebounds and had three steals.

Levi Butler scored 22 points while Jaymes Carpenter added eight in South Williamsport’s 45-36 win against Line Mountain. The Mounties trailed going into the half, 20-17, but a 16-7 advantage in the fourth helped seal South’s win.

Sullivan County outscored Sayre by 22 points in the first quarter en route to a 58-17 rout against the Redskins. Cayden Smithkors scored 11 points for the Griffins while Jaiden Moore added nine.

Cowanesque suffered a 57-52 road loss at Galeton. The Indians were led by Levi Stahli’s 16 points and Ashtyn Burdick’s 10. Both Parker Lee and Jacob Johnson contributed seven apiece.

Galeton’s Max Schloegel scored a team-high 21 points while Gavin Shutt added 14.

Teyton Thompson scored a team-high eight points, but Canton didn’t have anyone reach double figures as Millville secured a 40-point home victory, 67-27. Logan Nemchick hit nine 3-pointers to lead Millville with 27 points.

• North Penn-Mansfield’s girls basketball team edged North Penn-Liberty in an overtime thriller at Mansfield, 56-53.

Mansfield saw Elaina Shaw score 17, Kameron Lightner score 16 and Maddy McNamara add 11. Liberty was led by Kendall Graham’s 16 points as she had four blocks, three steals and three rebounds. Haley Litzelman recorded another double-double with 12 rebounds and 11 assists to go with eight points, six blocks and four steals. Serena Boiywo had an eight-point, eight-rebound performance with two steals.

Wellsboro’s offense struggled as Ady Frantz was the only double-digit scorer in Wellsboro’s 47-34 loss to Northeast Bradford. Kya Lawton added eight points for Wellsboro.
