Lycoming wrestling wins nine bouts in 47-3 rout of King’s
With four falls and eight bonus-point wins, the Lycoming College wrestling team cruised to a 47-3 win over King’s College in a dual meet in Lamade Gym on Saturday.
The Warriors (6-4 overall) benefitted from a forfeit win at 125 pounds before junior Bobby Gardner, a South Williamsport graduate, posted a first-period pin of Christian Borges at 133 pounds. Freshman Luke Magnani followed with a 12-0 major decision of Jacob Torres at 141 pounds to give Lycoming a 16-0 lead.
After a sudden-victory loss at 149 pounds, the Warriors rolled up the meet’s last 31 points in the final six bouts. Senior 157-pounder Kobin Karper started the run with a third-period takedown that gave him a 5-1 win over Martin Turi before freshman 165-pounder Nando Ott followed with a second-period technical fall of Jordan Bentley. Junior Nolen Zeigler followed with a 65-second pin at 174, senior Eli Crum added a 79-second tech fall at 184 and junior Ivan Neal and senior Michael Sipps, a Cowanesque Valley graduate, finished off first-period pins at 197 and heavyweight, respectively, to cap the match.
The Warriors are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 1, when they host the Rennie Rodarmel Allstate Invitational at the Keiper Recreation Center at 9:30 a.m.
