Williamsport’s Ross, Summers win two events each as Millionaires fall to State College in swimming

Williamsport’s boys and girls swim teams were swept by State College in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon. The State College girls won, 127-59, and the boys won, 115-67. Despite the losses, however, the Millionaires saw success in the pool on both sides.

Williamsport’s Brady Ross and Evan Summers both had solid performances on Saturday as they claimed two individual victories each.

Ross won the 50 free in 22.05, winning by 0.70 seconds over State College’s Evan Koehle. Williamsport’s Max Fink was fourth in 25.53 and Evan Weaver took fifth in 26.57. Ross also won the 100 free with a time of 49.38, the only swimmer to break 50 seconds. State College’s Luke Kalandaria was second with a time of 53.65.

Summers of Williamsport won the boys 200 IM in 2:01.17, wining by just over two seconds as State College’s Luke Flickinger took second in 2:03.55. The Millionaires’ Cooper Allmaras was a third-place finisher in 2:15.05. In the 100 breast, Summers won with a time of 1:00.42, cruising by just more than one-and-a-half seconds to win. Williamsport’s Evan Weaver took fourth (1:08.53).

Allmaras, Nathaniel DePrenda, Summers and Ross teamed up to win the boys 200 free relay in 1:32.82, edging out State College by nearly a second. Williamsport’s B team of Brian Love-Ritchey, Evan Weaver, Aiden Li and Max Fink took third in 1:44.32.

Allmaras was a second-place finisher in the 100 back in 58.47, behind only State College’s Evan Koehle (57.39). Williamsprot’s DePrenda took fourth (1:07.55).

On the girls side, Williamsport’s Aviya Halstead swam a 26.51 to win the 50 free by roughly half a second over State College’s Merson Grat while Williamsport’s Kiley Persun took third in 27.38 and Addison Hill of Williamsport finished fourth in 28.66.

Halstead was also a third-place finisher in the 100 back in 1:10.63 while Dylana Richards took fourth in 1:15.30 and Hill took fifth in 1:15.52.

Williamspor’s Annie Ross swam a time of 1:16.62 to win the 100 breast.

Williamsport’s Clover Lindsay finished second in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 187.35 as State College’s Varrah Gramling scored a 214.00 to win. Williamsport’s Allie Eberhart took third in 169.40.

Kiley Persun took second in the girls 500 free with a time of 5:47.36 as State College’s Ellen Woodruff swam a 5:31.08 to win.
