Golf tip of the week: Three most asked questions in golf
PHOTO PROVIDED These are approximate positions and can be adjusted somewhat, except the hands should always hang down at the address.
I have given thousands of lessons and hundreds of lectures; the three questions always asked are:
1–How far should you stand from the ball?
The hands hang down at the address position. That applies to all clubs. The club length determines the distance you stand from the ball. Never stretch your arms out; the hands should be at their lowest point.
2–Where should you play the ball in your stance?
The five iron through the wedges, play the ball in the center of your stance. The four iron through the driver, play the ball off your left heel (right heel for the left-handed golfers).
3–How wide should your stance be?
With the longer clubs such as the driver and the three wood, the outside of the shoulders should be even outside your feet. All the other clubs’ shoulders should be to the inside of the feet.
Don’t forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
