Kennevan’s 3 in final seconds secures win for LHU

BLOOMSBURG — Luke Kennevan drilled a trifecta in the closing seconds to cap off an 18-point comeback to secure a 68-67 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory at Bloomsburg, sending the Bald Eagles to the postseason for the seventh straight season.

The Bald Eagles outscored Bloomsburg 42-23 in the second half to mount the comeback. They won the rebounding battle 42-37 and generated 19 offensive rebounds that created second and third opportunities throughout the comeback.

Lock Haven trailed by as many as 18 points in the first half, staring down a 44-26 deficit at intermission after Bloomsburg shot 59 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

Kennevan, a freshman guard who has now delivered two game-winning shots this season, received a pass from Deon Coleman-Newsome in the corner, rose up without hesitation, and drained the go-ahead three with the clock nearly expired. Lock Haven led for the first time all night.

Kennevan finished with 13 points on 5 of 12 shooting, including three triples, to go along with five rebounds.

Dean Coleman-Newsome was relentless in the final 20 minutes, finishing with 16 points, six rebounds and went 8 of 11 at the line.

Blake Deegan posted a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double. He grabbed six offensive boards, including a tip-in at the 2:17 mark that cut the Husky lead to six and provided the momentum Lock Haven needed.

Starting at $2.99/week.
