The Lock Haven women’s basketball team used a dominant effort on the glass to pick up a 70-56 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East win in Thomas Fieldhouse over Bloomsburg on Monday.

The Bald Eagles are arguably off to their hottest start in their PSAC East competing history and continued to roll on Monday night by improving to 9-0 in the division after taking down Bloomsburg.

Lock Haven won its 10th game at home on Monday to improve to 15-5 on the season and 11-3 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg fell to 11-10 on the season and 7-7 in conference play.

Lock Haven has now won five of its last six meetings with Bloomsburg.

Lock Haven jumped out to a fast start, gaining a seven-point advantage after the first quarter and carrying a 38-32 lead to halftime.

A 13-12 defensive third quarter extended the Bald Eagle lead back to seven before Lock Haven finished strong, outscoring the Huskies 19-12 to earn a ninth straight victory.

Alana Robinson paced the Bald Eagles with a team-high 18 points on 8 of 14 shooting. The program’s all-time blocks leader added three more to her impressive career total.

Madeline Evans recorded her 16th double-double of the season with 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Evans helped extend the fourth-quarter lead at the foul line, finishing the game 7 of 8 at the charity stripe.

Jenadia Jordan added 16 points on 5 of 8 from the floor, nine rebounds and three steals.

Nufi Nemale-Djiegoue stepped up in her return to the starting lineup with 13 points on 3-of-5 from three-point range and had a tremendous defensive effort with three steals.

Lock Haven finished the game 24 of 49 (49%) from the field, 3 of 8 (37.5%) from behind the three-point line and 19 of 25 (76%) from the free throw line.

The Bald Eagles won the rebounding battle 34-17, including 16 offensive rebounds that led to 23 second-chance points.

The Bald Eagles are set to hit the road and will visit Mansfield for a 5:30 p.m. PSAC East contest on Wednesday.
