Local roundup South boys defeat Milton thanks to Walter’s double-double

Andrew Walter scored 25 points to lift South Williamsport’s boys basketball team to a 69-33 win against Milton with a double-double with 10 rebounds. Levi Butler scored 14 points and Bobby Regan chipped in 12 for the Mounties.
South led 17-7 after the first quarter and never let Milton rally back. After holding a 30-17 lead at the break, South Williamsport scored 23 third-quarter points. Jaymes Carpenter had seven rebounds and Butler and Regan each grabbed six.
Brady O’Rourke led Milton with 19 points while Jake Harris had 11.
A four-point fourth quarter by Wyalusing allowed Sullivan County to defeat the Rams at home, 51-46 as the Griffins came back from a 37-29 deficit to win.
Lucas King and Cayden Smithkors each scored 11 for the Griffins while Dom Marotti added 10. King had nine rebounds and four steals, Smithkors had six boards and Tucker Blasi had six steals and five rebounds.
• Williamsport drained six 3-pointers and allowed just 14 points over the final three quarters as it defeated Central Mountain, 45-22, on the road in girls basketball. Laylah Martin scored a team-high 13 points and hit three treys, while Zaelana Minor added 10 points. Kinsley Cannode made two 3-pointers and was one of seven players who scored in a balanced effort. Camdyn Weaver scored 14 points for Central Mountain.
Twelve points apiece from Teagan Osunde and Lauren Schwartz lifted Lewisburg past Mucny in girls basketball, 47-24. Emma McCormick led the Indians wtih 10 points while Ava Eyer scored eight.
Towanda defeated North Penn-Mansfield, 50-21. Elaina Shaw and Kameron Lightner each had six points for Mansfield. Towanda was led by Mya Maynard’s 14 points and Payton Perry’s 12.
Northeast Bradford defeated North Penn-Liberty, 58-37. Haley Litzelman had a 25-point, 18-rebound double-double with four assists and three blocks and became Liberty’s all-time leading scorer. She broke the mark of 1,376 and sits at 1,378 and counting after Tuesday’s win. Scarlett Graham had four steals, three rebounds with four points.
Kara Dughi had 21 points for Northeast Bradford, Mallorie Maynard scored 14, Leah Beebe had 12 and Aurelia Kolesar scored 10.
• In swimming, Hughesville had swimmers competing at a dual between Central Columbia and Bloomsburg on the road. Ashlynn Barlett swam the 50 free in 29.07 and the 100 free in 1:03.58. Evelyn Meckbach swam a 29.81 in the 50 free and 1:10.17 in the 100 free.
Sydney Siperko had a time of 33.27 in the 50 free and 1:20.46 in the 100 free and Luke Siperko swam a 26.30 in the 50 free and 59.30 in the 100 free.
