Local rounudp: Block scores 200th goal for Lycoming women’s lacrosse team
Senior attacker Riley Block scored her 200th career goal in the first quarter for the Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team, then added two more late in a 21-3 setback against Marywood University.
Block scored her milestone goal on a free position shot with 5:46 left in the first period, making her the fifth player in program history to reach the 200-goal mark. She then added a second goal with 11:50 left in the contest and her third tally of the night came just under five minutes later, giving her 202 goals for her career, surpassing Jordan Lazarich for fourth-most in school history.
Block finished the night with all three Lycoming goals on five shot attempts, while also tallying four draw controls and causing two turnovers. Freshman Julia Dammes led the Warriors with five ground balls and also caused a pair of turnovers. First-year Rachel Crawford recorded three ground balls and caused a turnover. • Junior Evan Donnelly led the Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team with 21 saves on Wednesday night, Feb. 25, as the team fell to Marywood, 8-2.
The Warriors (0-3 overall) scored two third-quarter goals, with freshman Samuel Hall finding the back of the net for the third straight game with 10:38 left and junior Brogan Wooley added a man-up goal with 1:44 left.
Hall and first-year Kyle Kunes each picked up six ground balls for the Warriors and sophomore James Hall-Melnychuck posted four. First-year Jack Mulholland added two caused turnovers.
