Lyco’s Slabach tallies double-double in men’s basketball loss at Juniata
HUNTINGDON — First year Elisha Slabach tallied a career-high 16 points and 11 rebounds for his first career double-double to lead the Lycoming College men’s basketball team as it fell, 79-60, in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday night, Feb. 18 at Memorial Gymnasium.
Lycoming (6-18, 2-15) jumped out quickly, taking an 11-3 lead just over five minutes in on back-to-back threes from Slabach. Juniata (9-15, 6-11), though, cooled down the Warrior offense during the rest of a defensive-minded first half, with the Eagles leading 31-26 at the break.
Early in the second half, Juniata used a 12-2 run to stretch their lead. Lycoming made one final push, using a 9-0 run to close to 66-57 on a Noa’Sosa Friedman (Louisville, Ky. / St. Xavier) bucket with 4:10 left. The Eagles outscored the Warriors, 13-3, the rest of the way.
Slabach tied his career best with his 16 points, draining four three-pointers and pulling down 11 rebounds, including six offensive boards. Friedman added 15 points on 7-for-12 shooting, to go along with eight rebounds and four assists. Seniors Isaiah Valentine and J.J. Beagle – a Williamsport graduate – each added eight points, with Beagle snagging seven rebounds.
The Warriors will finish the regular season with a Landmark Conference matchup against Elizabethtown College on Saturday. The Warriors will also celebrate Senior Day, with the festivities getting underway shortly before a scheduled 2 p.m. tip from Lamade Gym.
