The District 4 Class AA and AAA championships are scheduled to begin Friday at Williamsport’s Magic Dome.
In Class AA, a ton of talented and state-ranked wrestlers from the Central, South and North Sectional tournaments converge with their eyes on the Northeast Class AA Regional next weekend.
For Williamsport in Class AAA, it’s the Millionaires first time on the mat in nearly a month since a dual victory against Danville on Jan. 28.
There’s plenty of great wrestlers in all 13 weight classes in both fields. But what should fans keep an eye on beginning today at the Magic Dome?
Some things to look out for at districts:

DAVE KENNEDY/Sun-Gazette Gage Wentzel of Montoursville controls the action against Oliver Patte of Mifflinburg during their match at 172 pounds earlier this year. Wentzel, ranked No. 3 in the state at 172, could meet up with Max Wirnsberger of Warrior Run, ranked No. 2 in the state, in the District 4 finals if both win out.
GOING FOR THE ALL-TIME MARK
Brandt Harer’s senior year with Montgomery has been an exciting one for area fans to witness. He not only keeps piling up wins, but doing so in absolute dominating fashion. Harer has won 36 bouts this year by tech fall and last weekend became the second wrestler in Pennsylvania history to reach 100 or more tech falls for his career. The other is Bo Bassett of Bishop McCort who accomplished the feat in Johnstown at the PIAA Class AA Duals tournament.
But now Harer is closing in on an even more outstanding mark: Pennsylvania’s all-time wins record. Harer currently sits at 205 wins for his career entering the district tournament and will get historic in No. 207 on Saturday.
Virginia Tech’s Aaron Siedel holds the current mark of 206 wins, which he set last year with Northern Lebanon. Harer is on pace to shatter that mark as he has two more postseason tournaments to go after districts.
The Red Raider is also two wins away from a third consecutive 50-win season.

DAVE KENNEDY/Sun-Gazette Colin Nasdeo of Williamsport wins his match against Draylen Phillips of Jersey Shore during their match at 133 pounds this year. Nasdeo is one of a number of Millionaire wrestlers eyeing medals at the District 4 Class AAA championships.
Winning on the mat is far from easy, but Harer makes it look simple and has done so for his entire career.
POTENTIAL GREAT MATCHUP
The 172 bracket features Warrior Run’s Max Wirnsberger and Montoursville’s Gage Wentzel on opposite sides of the bracket as the two both won sectional titles last weekend.
They also are ranked Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, in the state at their weight. Fans could be in for a great matchup if the two both win out and reach the finals against each other.
The two matched up already this year three times.

RALPH WILSON/Sun-Gazette Correspondent Warrior Run’s Reagan Milheim wrestles in the 160-pound finals at last year’s Northeast Regional tournament. Milheim is part of a talented 160-pound weight class at this year’s district tournament which features seven state-ranked wrestlers as Milheim is ranked No. 2.
On Dec. 20, Wirnsberger earned a 2-1 TB-1 decision victory in a solid match between the two. They met up a month later on Jan. 10 in which Wentzel got the better of the Defender, this time for a 9-1 major.
The third meeting? That saw Wentzel win gain by decision in a close contest, 8-5, on Jan. 22.
Wentzel enters districts with 178 career wins — the all-time record at Montoursville — and Wirnsberger is at 169 after winning his third sectional title.
Wirnsberger is currently No. 2 on the Warrior Run all-time wins list and trails only teammate Reagan Milheim’s mark of 186. Milheim is trying to climb the all-time wins leaderboard as well. He’s five behind Conner Harer of Montgomery for second all-time (191) in District 4 history.
Wirnsberger currently is a win shy of becoming just the ninth wrestler in District 4 history to reach 170 or more wins and would join Montgomery’s Brandt Harer (205 and counting), Montgomery’s Conner Harer (191), Milheim (186), Southern’s Jaret Lane (182), Montoursville’s Gage Wentzel (178 and counting), Montoursville’s Gavin Hoffman (176), Wyalusing’s Matt Fisk (175) and Line Mountain’s Kellon Balum (170) to do so.
So, Round 4 for district gold between Wentzel and Wirnsberger? Fingers crossed we get to see it.
WILLIAMSPORT EYEING MEDALS
Williamsport senior Collin Nasdeo has only ever stood at the top of the podium when it comes to the District 4 Class AAA tournament and there’s no doubt he’ll want to do it again for a fourth consecutive year. Nasdeo is the top seed in the Class AAA 127-pound field and has an automatic bye into the semifinals where he’ll wrestle either Selinsgrove’s Gavin Rebuck or CMVT’s Carter Billings.
Nasdeo is ranked No. 30 in the state in Class AAA at his weight and is 15-6 this year. Nasdeo has never advanced past the Northeast Class AAA Regional tournament and didn’t place last year. Expect Nasdeo to be using that as motivation to get too states for the first time in his career as he is wrestling for the last time in a Millionaire singlet this year.
Williamsport junior Jordan Piselli is 23-5 this year and is the top seed at 114 pounds and is ranked No. 18 in the state as a junior. He has a first-round semifinal matchup with CMVT’s Landen Hess while Selinsgrove’s Colton Kratzer and Shikellamy’s Max Hallman battle in the bottom half of the bracket in the other semifinal.
Pisselli, like Nasdeo, only knows district gold as he was a champion last year in his first year competing, but didn’t place at regionals.
Lauger Waldman, a junior, is the three seed in the 139 bracket and wrestles Shikellamy’s Ryder Borich.
LOADED WEIGHT CLASSES
The 160-pound field features seven state-ranked wrestlers all battling for the district title. That weight class features No. 2 ranked Regan Milheim of Warrior Run, No. 14 ranked Carson Rockwell of Canton, No. 23 ranked Kile Hartman of Hughesville, No. 26 ranked Josh Knoebel of Montgomery, No. 27 ranked Blake Frey of Montoursville, No. 28 ranked Reese Sluyter of Towanda and No. 29 ranked Evan Maneval of Midd-West.
That means the quarterfinals could feature a handful of state-ranked matchups. Frey wrestles Northeast Bradford’s Kale Howland in the preliminaries and could meet Milheim in the quarterfinals. Knoebel wrestles MIfflinburg’s Wesley Smith and could face Sluyter in the quarterfinals and Maneval wrestles Sullivan’s Tucker Evans in the preliminaries and has a matchup with Hartman in the quarterfinals if he wins.
Also keep an eye on the 127 field. That bracket features No. 12 ranked Chase Wirnsberger of Warior Run, No. 13 ranked Carden Wagner of Montgomery, No. 14 ranked Gage Swank of Muncy and No. 15 ranked Jack Gramly of Mifflinburg.
Wirnsberger and Gramly faced in the South Sectional last weekend and are on opposite sides of the bracket, which means they could meet up in the final if they both win out. Wirnsberger is hoping to win gold this year after taking silver last year as a freshman.
ELEVEN REPRESENTATIVES
Montgomery had the most success out of any area school at the Central Sectional tournament by having an outstanding 11 wrestlers qualify for the sectional tournament, and no doubt coach Denny Harer is hoping to see a lot more advance to regionals.
Montgomery had Gabe Oberheim (114), Liam Seeley (121), Carden Wagner (127), AJ Kroft (139), Brandt Harer (145), Trace Furman (152), Josh Knoebel (160), Raiden Felix (172) , Gage Furman (189), Evan Hugar (215) and Kiegan Clark (285) all advance to today’s District 4 championships. The only weight classes Montgomery didn’t send a wrestler to districts in was at 107 and 133, showing how talented the roster is top to bottom.
Oberheim is the No.2 seed in the 114 field and has a bye into the quarterfinals. He’s ranked No. 5 in the state, the highest-ranking District 4 wrestler at 141 in Class AA.
Seeley is ranked No. 22 and is the three seed. The only higher-seeded wrestlers are Bryce Pequignot of North Penn-Liberty who won a North Sectional title and Brock Rothermel of Line Mountain who won a crown at the South Sectional.
A win by both Seeley and Pequignot would pit them against each other in the semifinals.
Wagner is the No. 2 seed in the 127 field as Chase Wirnsberger of Warrior Run is seeded No. 1.
At 152, Furman is ranked No. 16 in the state and is the second seed, behind only Line Mountain’s Dalton Schadel who is ranked No. 10 and seeded No. 1. Furman’s bracket also features No. 13th ranked Brayden Andrews of Southern Columbia, No. 14th ranked Landen Wagner of Lewisburg and No. 27th-ranked Jonathan Earle of Wyalusing.
HUNGRY BULLDOGS
Jersey Shore has a handful of wrestlers competing in the Class AAA field that are eyeing top podium spots and berths to the Northeast Class AAA Regional tournament. That includes standouts Gabe Fisher, Louden Spotts, Tobias Morgret and Jon Dincher.
All four have put together solid season and are title contenders and for Fisher, he’s been having a great freshman season since his first match of the year.
Fisher is 27-8 this year and has 12 wins via tech fall and six by pin as he’s been producing a great season. He may be a freshman, but he’s been tested all year as he has wrestled 14 opponents who are at least returning district qualifiers and number who were regional qualifiers.
He has a first-round matchup in the 121 semifinals against Christopher Getz of CMVT.
Louden Spotts is hoping to win a second consecutive district title as he’s 25-9 this year and is competing in the 152-bracket. He has a first-round bye into the semifinals and wrestles against either CMVT’s Hunter English or Williamsport’s Jahki Burget.
Tobias Morgret, like Spotts, has a top seed at 160 and is 26-10. He claimed district gold last year at 152 and is hoping for success again this year. Morgret has a bye into the semifinals and will wrestle against either Williamsport’s Austin Dunlap or Shikellamy’s Tristan Smith.
Dincher is seeded No. 2 in the 172 bracket and is 22-13 this year, the most wins the senior has put together in a single-season in his career. He’s also chasing his first carer gold medal after taking sixth as a sophomore and third last year.
Dincher wrestles against Selinsgrove’s Hunter Derk in the semifinals and needs just one win to ensure his highest district finish yet.
AREA LOOKOUT
There’s plenty of other area wrestlers competing throughout the tournament. That includes six South Williamsport wrestlers, a trio of Loyalsock wrestlers and a pair of Muncy standouts.
South Williamsport has Jayden Hamm (172), who won sectional gold, in addition to Garrett Bacorn (107), Jonah Caputo (133), Garrett Lorson (145), Cade Lusk (160), Cole Gerber (189) and Oz Bird (285).
Loyalsock’s Miles Ransom-Rennicks (114), Kayden Keefer (152), Ivan Baker (145) and Carter Brown (133) are set to wrestle and for Muncy, Roman Maionara (121), Gage Swank (127), Chase Boozer (139) and Gannon Swank (107) are competing.
Hughesville has four wrestlers as well at districts in Kile Hartman (160), Colton Woolever (215), Ethan Wodrig (133) and Landon Puderbach (152).
