FARWELL — Coming off a long week of wintry weather that saw Bucktail in action just one time in a win at Montgomery, Bucktail outlasted Curwensville, 43-32, Monday evening at home.

Freshman Kelsie Wagner again proved too dominant for her opponents as the ninth grader scored 23 points, including eight in the second quarter where her team pulled ahead for good.

The Tide did not roll over as at just 2-14 coming into the contest they pulled within five points and just two possessions several times in the third quarter, but it was ultimately just too much Wagner from start to finish.

Bucktail improved to 11-7 on the season in a game that coach Sueellen Wagner was glad to see end.

“I did not expect that tonight, we definitely did not jive well together as a team, I really think we just had too much sitting around last week” coach Wagner said of the multiple days of missed practices and games due to a winter storm and frigid cold. “Nothing seemed to gel together for us. We had way too many turnovers.”

As a team the Bucks committed sixteen giveaways.

“With that said, look, we got a win so I’m proud of that, but we will have to play much better than that when we go to Muncy tomorrow (Tuesday) night,” the coach finished.

Senior Kendall Wagner scored nine points, grabbed nine rebounds and impressive six blocked shots. Fellow senior Eva Sockman had a game high twenty-one rebounds, again helping to shape the outcome of the game with her dominance underneath the rim.
