Hughesville (27-3) vs. Holy Redeemer (21-8) at Hazleton, 6 p.m.

Hughesville road to Final 4: In District 4, beat Bloomsburg, 49-22; Mount Carmel, 40-25 and Loyalsock, 45-38; In States, beat Columbia, 63-32; Notre Dame-Green Pond, 42-30, and Dunmore, 46-40

Hughesville notes: Hughesville has made history, reaching its first Final 4 and winning a program record 27 games. The Spartans captured league and district championships in the same season for the first time as well. Hughesville rallied from an eight-point first quarter deficit in Friday’s win against Dunmore. Kylie Temple hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to close the third quarter and put Hughesville ahead to stay, 31-30. Temple scored 15 points and was 4 of 4 at the line and from the field in the fourth quarter. Maddie Smith scored nine fourth quarter points and Anna Easton grabbed nine rebounds. Vivian Draper and Allyssa King combined for seven steals and Kendall Hamm and Casey Schultz shined off the bench. Hughesville rallied in the final minute a year ago, edging Redeemer, 51-49 in the first round of states. The Spartans have held all six playoff opponents to fewer than 40 points and limited Dunmore to five second-half field goals. Before 2024, Hughesville had never won a state playoff game and now has produced six in the past three seasons.

Redeemer road to Final 4: In District 2, beat Lakeland, 54-16 and Lake-Lehman, 61-44; lost to Dunmore, 37-35; In States, beat Loyalsock, 61-55; Imhotep, 67-62, and Schuylkill Haven, 51-36

Redeemer notes: Redeemer was five seconds from winning the district title before Dunmore hit a 3-pointer with five seconds remaining. The Royals have caught fire since then, topping 50 points in each state game and defeating two 2025 state semifinalists. Redeemer has won nine of its last 11 games and avenged a loss against Lake-Lehman in the district semifinals. Mackenzie Chimock scored 27 points in Friday’s win against Schuylkill Haven and is averaging 13.3 points per game. Bella Boyan averages 11.4 points, Tessa Cegelka 6.7, Gillian Parsons 4.2 and Kira Millard 4.0. Boyan had 22 against Imhotep, Chimock 16 and Millard 14. Redeemer rallied from an early eight-point deficit at Loyalsock in the opening round and held off a late Lancer rally. Boyan had 23 points, Chimock 17 and Cegelka 10 in that game. Redeemer and Hughesville both reached the quarterfinals two years ago.
