Block moves into second on scoring list for Lycoming women’s lacrosse
Senior Riley Block scored two goals to move into a tie for second on the Lycoming College women’s lacrosse program’s career points list, as the team fell to Montclair State, 19-3, on Thursday evening.
Block’s two goals, one in the second and one in the third quarter, gives her 276 career points, tying her with Lycoming Athletics Hall of Famer Megan Wallenhorst (2008).
Freshman Molly Giufre added a goal and an assist for the Warriors (2-3 overall). Freshman Julie Dammes posted four ground balls and a caused turnover and sophomore Summer Emlet added two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Norah Monaghan led the Red Hawks with four goals and an assist and Amra Lukovic added a goal, four assists, five ground balls and 11 draw controls. Kaely Sek added three goals, two assists and five caused turnovers.
Sophomore Emma Yanders made seven saves in the first three quarters and first-year Riley Pool added three stops in the fourth for Lycoming. Joey Grotkopf and Lea Hegewald stopped three shots for the Red Hawks.
The Warriors are back in action on Monday, March 9, when they head to Virginia Wesleyan University for a 4 p.m. game.
