CM, Shore players earn HAC-I all-star nods in girls basketball
TIM WEIGHT/Special to the Sun-Gazette Jersey Shore's Mike Schall talks to his players during a game against Central Mountain. Schall was named HAC-I Coach of the Year.
The Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference announced its selections for the conference’s All-Division rosters for girls basketball over the weekend. Within the group of talented rosters in Division I, Central Mountain and Jersey Shore were well represented.
Following a season that saw her average almost 13 points per game, Central Mountain junior point guard Camdyn Weaver was named a first-team selection. She also grabbed six rebounds and dished out just under four assists per outing.
She was joined by fellow double-figure scorer Payton Williams, who earned second-team honors for what was a successful freshman campaign. Through 21 contests, Williams averaged ten points, four rebounds and three assists per game.
For the Bulldogs, five selections ensured their immediate shake back this season didn’t go unnoticed. Coach Mike Schall earned Coach of the Year honors for leading to 14 wins and another deep postseason run despite crucial departures. And three players – one selected twice – also made the cut.
Alongside Weaver, freshman Marlee Lehman also earned first-team honors to headline Shore’s All-Division selections. She was a staple in the team’s success despite her inexperience, leading it scoring wise while making an impact in all facets.
Fellow freshman Sadie Schall was selected to the second team, giving Shore fans more to be excited about when it comes to the future of the team. And senior Avery Depasqua earned multiple selections, being selected as an honorable mention and member of the All-Defensive team.
