CM’s Hosley, Williamsport’s Summers compete on Day 1 of PIAA swimming championships

On Wednesday, Hosley competed at the state meet at Bucknell in the 100 fly in Class AAA competition. This year, Hosley is Central Mountain’s lone state qualifier.
LEWISBURG — It was a great opening day to swim fast at the PIAA Class AAA swimming championships at Bucknell University on Wednesday, the first day of competition for the four-day event.
Central Mountain junior Gabriella Hosley won the District 6 title in the 100 fly with a time of 1:02.30 to head to the state meet.
And on Wednesday, she bested her district-winning time as she swam a 1:02.21.
Hosley had a great start, swam strong and finished with a time of 1:02.21. The Wildcat swam in the first of four heats in the 100 fly.
Central Mountain coach Carol Matheney said “Gabby was our study competitor all season. She had another letter winning season.”
Assistant coach Erin Rockey remarked that “Gabby was cool calm and collected.”
Hosley had an outstanding swim season through hard work determination and dedication this past winter season and achieved her goals and represented her team with pride.
Williamsport’s Evan Summers competed on Wednesday in the fourth of four prelims for the boys 200 IM in Class AAA competition. Summers, a junior, swam a time of 1:25.39, good enough for 19th in the event. He was just 0.28 seconds from reaching the B finals.
