First four batters score 10 runs as Lycoming downs Susquehanna, 13-7

The top four batters in the Lycoming College lineup scored 10 runs off the strength of five hits and seven walks, also driving in six, as the team came back from a four-run first-inning deficit to post a 13-7 Landmark Conference win over Susquehanna University on Wednesday at Brandon Park.

Senior Sean Perkins scored three runs, walking twice, senior Nick Reeder (a Montoursville graduate) tripled, scored three times and drove in two, senior A.J. Llorente (a Montoursville graduate) had two hits for the fourth game in a row, scoring twice and driving in three, and senior Brody Lindsey also had two hits, a double, two runs and a RBI. Junior Eric MacCluen was 2 for 5 with a double and two RBI and sophomore Kaden Shay (a South Williamsport graduate) scored two runs, had a hit and two walks.

After Susquehanna (10-9, 1-3) scored four in the first inning, the Warriors (10-11, 3-5) came back to tie the game in the fifth inning, as Reeder got the team on the board with a two-run triple before Llorente scored him with a single. Llorente later scored on a groundout from senior Josh Bottger and Lindsey gave Lycoming its first lead by scoring on a single from junior Anthony Guzman.

Susquehanna scored a pair of runs in the sixth to take the lead back, but Lycoming answered right back, with Llorente driving a two-RBI bases-loaded single through the right side in the bottom of the inning to score Shay and Perkins. Reeder scored on a passed ball.

In the eighth, the Warriors broke the game open with five runs on one hit, taking advantage of five walks, a hit batter and an error to keep the inning going. MacCluen had a two-RBI single with the bases loaded in the inning.

The Warriors used eight pitchers with freshman Brayden Maksimik (2-2) earning the win thanks to a scoreless inning of work. Brayden McCourt took the loss for Susquehanna, allowing three runs, a hit and a walk in 1/3 inning.

The River Hawks were led by two hits and three RBI from Lucas Zachesky.

The Warriors are back on the field on Saturday when they host Juniata College at 12 p.m., in a Landmark Conference doubleheader.
