LHU men’s wrestling set for 2026 MAC Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Lock Haven men’s wrestling team is set to compete at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championship, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 6-7 at the Buffalo University’s Alumni Arena.

The Bald Eagles are seeking their fourth MAC team title in five years and will look to go back-to-back for the second time.

The 2019-20 season marked Lock Haven’s debut campaign in the Mid-American Conference. Since then, the Bald Eagles have crowned 11 individual MAC champions, and Lock Haven has won team titles in 2022, 2023 and 2025.

No. 30 Avery Bassett leads the way for Lock Haven after earning the top seed at 174 pounds. No. 22 Wyatt Henson and No. 21 Lucas Kapusta both earned No. 2 seeds at 141 and 149 pounds, respectively.

Tucker Hogan (197, No. 3), Gable Strickland (133, No. 4), Nick Stampoulos (157, No. 5) and Sam Gautreau (184, fifth) also earned top-5 seeds. Kade Sottolano came in at eighth at heavyweight.

Strickland looks to regain the throne at 133 after winning the title in 2023 and 2024, while Henson will look to three-peat his individual title at 141.

The NCAA announced qualifier allocations for the 2026 NCAA Championships and the MAC was awarded 27 total NCAA championship qualifying spots stretched across the 10 weight classes.
