Sock’s Dadzie, Hughesville’s Smith earn Co-MVP honors for HAC all-stars
Several area players and coaches were recently honored as all-stars and award winners with the Heartland Conference releasing its annual girls and basketball all-star teams.
On the girls’ side, Loyalsock’s Alaina Dadzie and Hughesville’s Maddie Smith earned Co-Most Valuable Player honors in the HAC-III, while Hughesville’s Dustin King was named Coach of the Year. Loyalsock point guard Jaekairah Harden also was a first team selection.
Hughesville’s Vivian Draper and Allyssa King, as well as Loyalsock’s Madison Perry were second team selections. Harden, Kylie Temple and Warrior Run’s Mya Evans were honored as Defensive all-stars.
Lewisburg’s Teagan Osunde and Ava Motto were first team HAC-II honorees, as was Milton’s Carrie King. Montoursville’s Kayleigh Sheleman and Emily George earned second team spots, as did Milton’s Liz Schrock. George, Schrock and Lewisburg’s Lauren Schwartz earned Defensive honors.
Jersey Shore’s Marlee Lehman and Central Mountain’s Camdyn Weaver were first team HAC-I selections. Fellow Jersey Shore freshman Sadie Schall was a second team selection as was Central Mountain freshman Payton Williams. Jersey Shore’s Avery DePasqua was named a Defensive all-star and coach Mike Schall was named Coach of the Year.
On the boys’ side, Warrior Run’s Aiden McKee took HAC-III MVP honors for a second straight season. Teammate James Keifer joined him on the first team as did Hughesville’s Gavin Knarr.
Warrior Run’s Ethan Balzer and Landon Polcyn were second team choices, as were Loyalsock’s Braydon Cioffi and Brecken Gusick, both sophomores. Their teammate Jalil Coates was the top Defensive all-star vote getter and was joined by Warrior Run’s Carter McCormick and Hughesville’s Carson Stackhouse.
Lewisburg dominated the HAC-II first team with the District 4 Class AAAA champions producing three first-time honorees and Leon Tucker being named Coach of the Year. Cooper Mowry, LJ Tucker and Nazir Meredith were first team selections for the Heartland Conference champions. Montoursville’s Shea Ulmer also was named to the first team.
Montoursville’s Elijah Eck and Kingston Fisher were second team choices as were Lewisburg’s Rebira Jemana and Cortland Michaels. Jemana was named Defensive Player of the Year for a second straight season. Teammate LJ Tucker and Montoursville’s Cam Cintron also were Defensive all-stars.
Central Mountain’s Noah Wells earned HAC-I first team honors and teammate Darius Shade was a second team selection, along with Jersey Shore’s Landon Lathan and Jacob Lorson. Central Mountain’s Blake Walker earned Defensive all-star honors.
