Warrior Run’s Milheim advances to finals in Class AA at 160

HERSHEY — Once again, Warrior Run’s Reagan Milheim is in the state final. The Defender senior who will wrestle at American earned a convincing 19-4, 3:40 tech fall win in the 160-pound semifinals over Bradford’s Jordan Thompson.

With the win, Milheim will wrestle against Bishop McCort’s Melvin Miller in Saturday’s final. Miller earned a 21-6, 3:15 tech fall win vs. Layden Acovado in the semifinals.

In the quarterfinals earlier in the day, Milheim pinned Nicky Negron of Bishop McDevitt in 64 seconds.

Warrior Run’s Max Wirnsberger came just shy of competing for a gold medal. The Defender, wrestling at 172, lost in the championship semifinals to Derry Area’s Mason Horwat by decision, 7-2. Wirnsberger reached the semifinals thanks to a 4-1 decision in the 172 quarterfinals over Cochranton’s Cash Morrell.

In the second-round consolations, Warrior Run’s Chase Wirnsberger suffered a 7-1 loss by decision to Berlin Brothersvalley’s Lukas Smith to end his run in Hershey.

North Penn-Liberty’s Bryce Pequignot won his second-round consolation matchup against Caleb Hummel of Philipsburg-Osceola, 6-2, at 121. In the third-round consolations, Pequignot suffered a loss by fall in 2:15 to Berks Catholic’s Tyden Shuman.

Williamson’s Zander Wilson fell in the championship quarterfinals at 114 by major decision to Halifax’s Izaya Schickley, 8-0.In the third-round consolations, Wilson survived with a narrow 4-2 decision against Hanover’s Chase Smith to secure a spot in Saturday’s competition.

Sullivan County’s Andrew Kapec lost in the second-round consolations at 133 by major decision against Derry Area’s Camden Olson.
