Warrior Run’s Milheim cruises in first round, Max Wirnsberger advances to quarters

Warrior Run’s Reagan Milheim’s undefeated season is continuing on the first day of the PIAA Class AA wrestling championships as the American commit cruised to a first-round win at 160 pounds to lead a day of success for Warrior Run wrestlers.
Milheim pinned Quaker Valley’s Matt Danna in 1 minute, 11 seconds to advance to the quarters.
Competing at 172, Warrior Run’s Max Wirnsberger advanced to the quarterfinals with a convincing 17-2, 4:00 tech fall victory over Meyersdale’s Cooper Porter. Max Wirnsberger was a District 4 and Northeast Class AA Regional silver medalist, losing to Montoursville’s Gage Wentzel both tournaments.
At 127, Warrior Run’s Chase Wirnsberger suffered a tough 10-3 decision loss to Avonworth’s Auston Kosanovic in the first round to fall into the consolations. In the consolation bracket, Chase Wirnsberger bounced back with a 2-1 TB2 decision against Blue Ridge’s Brice Woodruff to keep his season alive.
Noah Johnson of Warrior Run also suffered a first-round loss after falling to Laurel’s Casey Wilson via decision, 7-0. In the consolations, Johnson managed to stay alive with a 34-second pin over Reed Palmer of Troy.

Elsewhere outside of Lycoming County’s wrestlers, North Penn-Liberty’s Bodhi Nickerson had a preliminary-round win at 107 by earning a 9-0 major decision victory against Warren Wolesagle of Elizabeth Forward. In the first round, Nickerson lost by tech fall to Trinity’s Arav Pandey, 19-3, 1:45.
Bryce Pequignot of North Penn-Liberty, who recently became a 100-win wrestler, suffered a fall to Tussey Mountain’s Dakota Santamaria in 4:51 to fall into the consolations. Once in the consis, Pequignot had a tech fall win against Berwick’s Carmen Malt, 22-6, 3:21, to advance.
Williamson standout Zander Wilson earned a 10-1 major decision win against Everett’s Tucker Smith at 114 in the first round to advance to the quarterfinals. Williamson also saw Luke Sottolano compete in the first round, doing so at 285. The Williamson heavyweight defeated Glendale’s Daniel Williams by decision, 7-1. It was a step in the right direction for Sottolano, who went 0-2 last year at states.
Lewisburg’s Landon Michaels suffered a first-round loss at 133 in his first trip to the state tournament. The Green Dragon lost to Austin Carfley of Bishop McCorty by major decision, 11-3. Also at 133, Andrew Kapec of Sullivan County suffered a 16-1, 4:52 tech loss to McGuffey’s Lucas Barr.
In the consolations, Kapec survived with a 12-2 major win against Honesdale’s Justin Scanlon while Michaels suffered a 7-2 decision to Jacksin Smith of Halifax and lost.

Lewisburg’s Landen Wagner lost by decision at 152 in the first round to General Mclane’s Clay Kimmy, 4-0, to drop into the consolations. In the consolations, Wagner stayed alive by earning a dominating 18-2, 3:56 tech fall over Burrell’s Liam Jones.
